Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan) - Meet the tour guide in the lobby of the Guilin hotel, board a private air-conditioned vehicle, and begin a personalized tour of the city’s attractions. Discuss the historical highlights and sites of interest with the knowledgeable guide, who will assist in planning an itinerary tailored to specific interests. Typically, the tour starts with Elephant Trunk Hill.

Elephant Trunk Hill is the iconic symbol of Guilin, renowned as a tourist destination since the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). The hill resembles a giant elephant drinking from the river.

Xiangbi Mountain Puxian Tower - Enjoy a brisk walk to the summit to visit the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) Puxian Tower, built to honor Samantabhadra. Learn about its history from the tour guide, then take in the panoramic views of the city, Li River, and surrounding landscape.

Yunfeng Temple - Proceed to Yunfeng Temple, one of Guilin’s renowned ancient temples. It was the residence of Monk Jianzhen, a prominent monk of the Tang Dynasty, who traveled to Japan six times to spread Buddhist teachings and standardize monastic conduct. Explore the temple and the exhibition gallery on the second floor.

Fubo Hill - Continue to Guilin’s Fubo Hill. Fubo Hill, located beside the Li River, rises dramatically from the landscape and is celebrated for its natural beauty and historical art.

Follow the tour guide to explore Buddha etchings from the Song and Tang Dynasties (618 - 1279) at Thousand-Buddha Cave and Pearl-Returning Cave. Admire the Sword-Testing Rock and learn the legendary tales associated with it.

Reed Flute Cave (Ludi Yan) - Next, head to Reed Flute Cave. Over millions of years, dripping water has sculpted the cave into a unique world of stalactites, stone pillars, and rock formations. Discover key spots such as Tower-shaped Pine and Crystal Palace. In addition to the stunning natural scenery inside Reed Flute Cave, there are numerous inscriptions on the walls, including 77 travelogues and poems from the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Then, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Seven Star Park (Qixing Gongyuan) - In the afternoon, stroll through Seven Stars Park. The park boasts elegant mountains, clear waters, a miraculous stone forest, serene valleys, abundant wildlife, and cultural relics. It has been a popular site since the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) Dynasties.

Cross the Flower Bridge, built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the oldest bridge in Guilin.

Putuo Mountain - Explore Putuo Mountain, where Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is venerated. The mountain is rich with caves and pavilions. At the summit, find Putuo Stone Forest, Xuanwu Pavilion, and Zhaixing Pavilion. Additionally, there are numerous valuable tablets on the mountain. Choose how far to explore.

After the tour, return to the hotel in Guilin.

Guilin-Yangshuo (L)

Li River - The private English-speaking guide and driver will pick up guests from the hotel’s lobby at 8:00 am for transfer to Zhujiang Pier, where the boat cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo County begins. The Li River Cruise is a highlight of any visit to Guilin.

Gui Lin Zhujiang Pier - Along the river, enjoy stunning views of peaks and pinnacles, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque pastoral countryside. The river is divided into three sections, with various attractions like peaks and villages having intriguing descriptive names that spark the imagination. Listening to the tour guide’s legendary stories about the attractions enhances the experience. Most stories are mystical fairy tales and love stories. The cruise typically lasts around 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on water conditions.

Xingping Fishing Village - The Li River makes a significant turn at Xingping, offering beautiful and poetic scenery, often depicted in Chinese landscape paintings. The newly-issued 20 RMB note features this scenery on its reverse. A photographer once remarked, “Shots from any perspective of this place are impressive and stunning.”

Enjoy a simple lunch on the boat.

West Street - Arrive in Yangshuo at 1:30 pm, and stroll around West Street with the tour guide, exploring various shops, craft stores, painting and calligraphy shops, backpack stores, and cafes. The tour guide will assist in negotiating prices for any desired souvenirs.

Shili Hualang - In the afternoon, explore the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo.

Strolling down a country road feels like traveling through a painting, which is true of the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo County, a fairyland on earth. As the name suggests, Ten-Mile Gallery is a scenic road stretching from the Yangshuo town area to Moon Hill, featuring rolling hills, endless fields, idyllic villages, and clear rivers on both sides.

Big Banyan Tree - As the journey through Ten-Mile Gallery continues, encounter a Big Banyan Tree, over 1,400 years old. Follow the tour guide to explore, learn about the love story of Liusanjie, and see how new couples come here to make wishes for their future.

Moon Hill - The final stop is Moon Hill. Inform the tour guide if photos are desired.

After the tour, choose to end the journey in Yangshuo or return to Guilin.
