Steaming ahead - A very relaxing experience. Great customer service from start to end. Kudos to all the volunteers who make these train rides possible for many. We were very humbled by the impressive machinery and the history of this little piece of Queensland.

A Fantastic Steam Train experience - This is a fantastic way to experience steam train travel. Prior to the start of the journey, there are photo opportunities of the locomotive. The journey was great. Each carriage has its own history which you can read about from a handout which is passed among the passengers. The volunteers have a great knowledge of the train as well as a good sense of humour. Some great scenery along the way and a fantastic opportunity to watch the locomotive being turned around at Amamoor. Absolutely recommend on the Mary Valley Rattler.

Steam train experience - Such a great day. Starts at Gympie station which is a well maintained heritage building. Very professional even though all the train crew are volunteers. We did the VIP package so sat in individual chairs either side of a small table. Everyone has a window seat. We were each served a cheese platter and drinks were available from the small bar. 45 minute journey to the turn around point at Amamoor where there was a small craft market, cafe and general store beside the tracks. The steam engine is turned around and attached to the other end of the carriages for the return trip. Arriving back in Gympie we had a delicious pre- ordered meal in the cafe in the station building.
