Fabulous trip with excellent staff - A really great way to spend 3 hours. All the staff who are all volunteers are so friendly and informative and the three stations that you stop at are well organised with again helpful friendly staff, we really enjoyed the whole trip.

Great experience - A very enjoyable way to spend a few hours, regardless if you’re a train buff or not. Staff onboard were knowledgeable and keen for a chat. There was a good selection of items from the cafe at Amamoor, while we sat and watched the train being turned on the turntable.

Lovely little trip on the heritage steam train. - The dedicated team of volunteers who run this experience do a fantastic job. They work hard to ensure that everybody has a good time, gaining knowledge of the history of the railway as you proceed along the route. The train runs through some lovely countryside, returning to Gympie after a stop at Aramoor. We had a lovely time.

A great little adventure (with one big catch) - Thankyou Gympie Rattler for a great morning out. It was a lovely Feb morning with no rain predicted which was amazing for this area and this time of year and to be able to leave the windows open. I can finally begin to do things around this town now that at 70yo I have finally retired. However my arrival at the Gympie Rattler Station seemed to be expected as two rail people were waiting for me at the entrance. I wasn't expecting such a personalised arrival. Turns out the information on all the various websites is incorrect and the actual departure time was right at that very moment, not an hour later as I had read. The train now departs at 9am, not 10am as written in all the online info I found. That is a BIG issue and I firmly believe the Gympie Rattler Organisation should be more proactive to solve that issue. I did ask a few employees about it later but all had the same response which was a shoulder shrug and words like "well we told them last year". To me that's obviously not good enough because the old info still stands on all the various websites. Fancy being one of those left behind? I was lucky to be so 'early'. I'm usually not. As far as I knew, departure time was 10am so to be at the station at 9am was unusually early for me. And just as well. Apart from that, the ride was noisy but nice. Particularly if green is your thing! The line was quite closed in in places with abundant greenery at every turn, of which there were many. In many places the trees seemed to want to join us inside the carriage. And even more places where the driver needed to blow the train's whistle. I like the clickity- clack of unwelded rail lines. Tells me I'm actually going somewhere and that I'm on a train. For me that's very cathartic. At Amamoor we stopped so the engine could be turned on the big turntable for the return journey. There were a couple of stalls selling stuff. I purchased a lovely grocery carry bag for the grand total of $7! It is made from strong durable heavy fabric with short handles so it won't drag on the ground as I walk. The return trip seemed to take only half as long even though the train still never got out of second gear. I know trains don't have gears ! It's just a colloquialism. It was a slow trip but needed to be for photo opportunities. Aaannnd probably for train driving reasons too! :-) In the dry season I expect the trees and grass would be trimmed back away from the train which would allow for better site seeing. And I'm sure there is a fire hazard aspect in there as well. All in all a great little adventure.

Wonderful day out on this piece of history - Fantastic morning out on the historic train. Old style tickets were a great touch and it was very well organised. A very relaxing trip! We just weren’t able to hear the volunteer discussing things like ‘staff change’ as we were at back of carriage. A sausage sizzle instead of just packed cafe would be great too 🤷‍♀️
