Ha Giang 5 day Tour - It was amazing! Beautiful surroundings, good food, a friendly Easyrider. We didn't drive too much a day and there are plenty of breaks in between. Can definitely recommend it!

Excellent itinerary, lovely people and ok experience overall but not recommended to solo travellers - Who would I recommend this tour to: - 100% to couples and small groups!!!! especially if they value having an amazing itinerary full of incredible stops that bigger groups can’t do because of their size and a bit safer driving conditions then the big groups over having a more social/party environment, and also especially if they want to see Cao Bang as well (which I would absolutely recommend!!); - not to solo travellers unless they really really want to see Cao Bang in the cheapest and most efficient way even at the cost of being awkwardly lonely for 5 days (maybe do it in the summer instead of the winter so the probability of finding more people at least at lunch and in the homestays if not also coming on the same tour is higher). The people at Lila Inn were all truly the best: super nice, caring, attentive and lovely! Liam always answered all of my questions and doubts super quickly (with one exception I’ll mention in a moment) and my driver Tuyen was so kind and sweet, he drove super safely and always tried his best to make me happy and the tour go as best as possibile. There’s a few unexpected things I want to say though because I feel like I would have found them very useful before choosing my tour: 1. even if the driving itself was super safe, the safety equipment was not the best, with only big helmets (I got the smallest one available and it was still big for me, making it not as safe as it should) and protective gear for the knees and elbows so old and battered that it didn’t even close properly - most companies don’t give anything though, so it’s still better than the norm even if not perfect; 2. be aware that “English speaking guide”doesn’t necessarily mean fluent at all and if it’s just you and the driver it can make things a bit lonely and awkward since it’s quite hard to have a full conversation; 3. also just be aware that since the tour is catered towards people who prefer quiet over big groups, the driver may do his best to avoid people because it’s what they’re used to, and if you’re solo but like company it can get quite frustrating and isolating to always be by yourself while seeing other people together having fun - disliking partying and big loud groups doesn’t mean not liking being with people at all! 4. if you need to go back to Hanoi from Cao Bang after the tour, I recommend to book it yourself because I asked the company multiple times and Liam always told me they would have done it when I got there in Cao Bang, but then the day before arriving I discovered thanks to a friend on another tour that the bus I wanted was actually already fully booked and I had to book a different one on 12GoAsia by myself I’m still overall happy to have done this tour because it was the best option I could find for what I wanted and the views were still really cool despite the cloudy weather (I would advice people to not go during this time of the year though, cause the experience can really be negatively influenced by the weather and I was very very lucky to have two days and a half of sun out of five and no rain but if it had been all clouds and rain it wouldn’t have been worthy at all), but I didn’t expect to be alone in it and for the first time in my solo travels I’ve felt like being alone ruined the experience a bit and that what people find life changing about the Ha Giang Loop is the bond created by sharing its beauty with other people, not just the beauty itself, and by choosing this tour I’ve kinda lost this opportunity a bit.
