Ha Giang – Nam Dam: Start the motorbike trip, visit lung Khuy Cave and stay at our homestay of the Dzao Minority people

Ha Giang Adventure - Explore the magical Ha Giang province by motorbike. See the picturesque rice terraces ribboning across the mountainside. Drive the winding highway carved into the sides of mountains. Interact with locals who have been isolated from Westerners until a few years ago. Ha Giang is an adventure you won’t soon forget.

Our guide will meet you around 9am. For the rest of the morning, we will help you work on your motorbike driving skills. Around 1pm, we will catch up with others to start the trip. During lunch we give you a motorbike briefing before you set off to Nam Dam village. You will be accompanied by a local who will show you the way.

Quan Ba Heaven Gate - The 45km drive is stunning, passing through traditional villages, beautiful valleys, and climbing mountains. Along the journey, we will make plenty of stops to take pictures and give your bum a rest. :) Among the stops we make is the Fairy Bosom hills in Quan Ba and a geopark recognized by UNESCO.

We will spend the night in Nam Dam village with a host family. You will have the afternoon and evening explore the village, go for a hike, help our host family prepare dinner, or just relax. Dinner includes local rice or corn wine, also called “happy water.”

The rest of your journey starts the next day after breakfast

Mun Homestay & Bungalow - Mun homestay is a Dzao family that we have worked with for a long time. Meet Pay and her family - your host of the night.

Nam Dam – Dong Van: Visit a Hemp Linen making village, and drive the epic Dong Van Geopark. Stay at nature camp site.

Lung Khuy Cave - After breakfast at our homestay, we’ll pack up the bikes then set off for the next part of our adventure.

Climb to Lung Khuy cave at the top of a mountain for an amazing view and some cave exploring.

Lung Tam Linen Cooperative - We’ll stop in one of the many picturesque villages we pass through today, called Lung Tam. It’s a Hemp Linen making village where we will watch how it’s made from A-Z. Try your hand a rolling out the cloth—you’ll be surprised how much balance and strength it takes!

Yen Minh - Yen Minh is a town in the valley we pass by. We will stop here from lunch

Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark - After lunch, we’ll continue on to a guest favorite—Dong Van. We highly recommend planning your trip to pass through Dong Van on Sunday, when the villagers host their weekly highland market. It’s not only a chance for locals to buy and sell goods and livestock, but it’s highly anticipated as a weekly social gathering.

Dinh Vua Meo - The Mansion of the opium king in the region. one of the typical architectural attractions of the area

Lung Cu Flag Tower - Visit the most northern point of Vietnam. From Lung Cu Flag Tower we can see across the border to China.

Our Friday departures always get the Sunday market experience in either Dong Van or Meo Vac

Ma Pi Leng Pass - Arguably one of the most epic and picturesque roads in all of Vietnam, you’ll want to have your camera ready and be prepared to make lots of stops for photos. We will hike on top of the pass for an 4 hour hike.

Mã Pí Lèng Pass - Mystic Tu San Abyss Alley in the border between Meo Vac and Dong Van district, Ha Giang Province. Vietnam

This alley is considered the most majestic with the heights of cliffs up to almost 1000 meters, length to almost 2 km while the depth is about 1000 meter.

Tu San Abyss Alley is naturally created millions of years ago when this whole region is still under the vast ocean. In the process of earth changes, the water receded, making this unique geological photography heritage now.

Meo Vac - Meo Vac is a small but charming district capital hemmed in by steep karst mountains. After Ma Pi Leng, We will stop for lunch here before continuing to the next part of the road toward Du Gia

Du Gia - There is a little village in the National reservation of Du Gia. This is where we are heading after lunch.

A beautiful 70 km of road will be the most talked of many motorbike drivers here. We’ll check in a homestay for the night here.

Du Gia and Back to Ha Giang: Merge yourself in the nature of the Du Gia Waterfall before slowly ride back to Ha Giang.

Du Gia - Du Gia National Park has the duty to protect the evergreen closed tropical moist tropical forest ecosystems. They are including limestone karsts, endangered. We will walk to a waterfall and relax for the morning there before we slowly ride back to Ha Giang

Thâm Luông Waterfall - Spend the morning hiking to the waterfall near our homestay, get ready for a dive into the crystal clear water before we travel back on the last part of the road to Ha Giang.

After our farewell lunch, We’ll drive back to Ha Giang and arrive back in Ha Giang by 4 pm for dropping you off at your hotel. In case you are catching our transfer back to Hanoi, our van will drop you off at around 10.30 pm in the Hanoi center.

Additional Information

Possessing a valid license recognized by the Vietnamese legal system is essential for taking part in our self-guided motorbike tour. Your country of origin may impact the requirements—be sure to reach out for specific guidance.\n Join us for a communal car excursion every Friday.\n** Opt for a ride with one of our motorbike operators; note that this service incurs extra charges.\n\nHa Giang, situated in the far north of Vietnam, is a recently accessible spot for travelers. Although it’s one of the least affluent areas in Vietnam, with a population exceeding 700,000, Ha Giang’s lack of a strong economic foundation has unintentionally safeguarded its environments from the detriments of widespread tourism and industrialization.\nThe region features landscapes that are likely beyond your previous encounters. Imposing limestone cliffs, ubiquitous granite formations, overarching valleys, terraced rice fields ascending into the mists, and serpentine roadways etched into the hillside define this area.

  • Families with infants, elderly members or special need should ask about our travel-by-car option.

Memories stored for life. - We had an amazing experience with Phong as our guide for the Ha Giang Loop! He was incredibly informative and helpful, offering interesting insights and facts about each of the attractions we visited. The ride itself was beautiful, especially at the end of September when the weather was just perfect for riding. I highly recommend doing this trip in a small group, as it gives you the flexibility and freedom to stop where you want. It was just me, my friend, and Phong, which made the experience feel very personal and customizable. One area for improvement would be the comfort of the motorcycles, as they could be a bit more comfortable for long stretches. Overall, it was a memorable adventure, and I would definitely recommend it!

Fantastic experience - Unbelievable experience from start to finish. The homestays were in some of the most breathtaking locations I’ve ever seen, all while being clean and having great food. I recommend to anyone to sign up and if you’re up for the adventure, rent the 50cc bikes and drive yourself!

Epic adventure - I have to say that this was easily the biggest highlight of a three week trip around South East Asia. Ha Giang Adventure are a very professional and well organised company, with my guide Truong being a wealth of knowledge about the history, people, and land in which you will travel through (epic views consistently gracing). I could write a long review, but here are the main points: - This company are very flexible, with my trip being only booked by me so I was able to do a solo adventure (accompanied by the awesome Truong driving on my particular trip) - The scenery is timeless and utterly majestic - The food in this trip was consistently delicious, and you can expect to have local delicacies for breakfast lunch and dinner - Meeting the local people and being able to share, if only for a moment, their unique and wonderful culture This is definitely a company I can recommend very highly for Ha Giang motor bike adventures :)

Absolutely Amazing - Will start off with this was the best tour I’ve been on in any country. Ha Giang with its valleys and mountains is beautiful. The accommodations prepared paired with views and food were unbelievable. Everyday seemed to surpass the previous in beauty. However, the highlight was our tour guide Su. He made this majestic place even more celestial. Providing insight on the areas we were riding through and the ethnic groups living there I truly felt immersed in the regions when he took us through the various villages. Also Su displayed his skills as a professional photographer and director of cinematography with his photos and videos he captured of our group. It was small group of 5 total including Su, so it made the experience more intimate as well. The 4 days flew by so quick but I’ll keep the memories from Ha Giang forever. I would recommend everyone to book with Ha Giang Adventures they will take care of you.

Amazing and very special, 100% would recommend! - This was AMAZING! Would 100% recommend. It turned out I was the only person in the group (low season), so it was basically a private tour. My guide Phong was super kind and spoke English very well, so we chatted and laughed a lot. The best thing was the homestays/places you sleep at night. They are a little more secluded and you have beautiful views (without spoiling it: night 2 was just mindblowing!!!) I drove myself, which was really cool, so if you feel comfortable that is a good option. I would do it all again!

Authentic experience in Ha Giang - With this tour we visited beautiful places and our guides made us avoid the crowds of other groups. The places where we slept were local and always very nice, away from the noise and crowds of larger groups; in the places with the shared bathroom we were still warned before and everything was always very clean. On our tour it was just me, my partner and the two guides. Our guides Thang and Vey speak fluent English, explained very well the local traditions and Vietnamese in general. They took care of us, at the end of the tour Thang even repaired my phone that got wet because of the heavy rain!! We were a bit unlucky with the rain, particularly on the second day, the rain covers provided by the company were not adequate, we got a lot wet, both us and our backpacks. They could have warned us before buying a disposable plastic suit, they are quietly on the street and we have been wearing them since the third day. In general we recommend Ha Giang Adventure to anyone who wants to discover the most authentic part of this region.
