Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Following breakfast, the journey begins on the 4C highway, known as the “Road of Happiness,” with a photo opportunity at “Km0.” Departing the city, the route heads north, ascending the Quan Ba mountain pass into the Dong Van Geopark, reaching Heaven’s Gate and passing the Fairy Hills. Lunch is enjoyed in or near the quaint town of Tam Son. The adventure continues deep into the Ha Giang mountains, arriving at the charming village of Du Gia. Here, accommodations are with an ethnic minority family at their homestay, sharing dinner and breakfast with them. (Today’s meals include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Quan Ba - Post-lunch, a visit to Lung Tam linen village is planned. This village is renowned for its long-standing tradition of brocade weaving by the Hmong people on the Dong Van plateau in Ha Giang province.
Du Gia - Du Gia is a serene, lesser-known village in Ha Giang, frequented mainly by travelers completing the Ha Giang loop over three or more days. Its appeal lies in its tranquil, untouched beauty, surrounded by majestic mountains and rice paddies. The local residents are notably welcoming and friendly.
Du Gia - Meo Vac - Nho Que River - Ma Pi Leng Pass - Dong Van
Nho Que River - The Nho Que River in Ha Giang has become a popular spot for travel enthusiasts. It offers a captivating experience, allowing visitors to admire the stunning blue waters and the majestic surrounding mountains. This harmonious blend creates a breathtaking natural landscape that leaves a lasting impression.
Ma Pi Leng Pass - The Ma Pi Leng Pass is Vietnam’s most remarkable mountain pass, standing at 1,500 meters. It connects Dong Van and Meo Vac, two towns in northern Vietnam’s Ha Giang province, near the Chinese border. It is considered the most spectacular mountain road in Vietnam.
This pass is part of the paved national road 4C, also known as “The Happiness Road,” constructed in the 1960s by numerous workers, primarily local ethnic minorities. The entire road took 11 years to complete.
Dubbed the King of Vietnamese mountain passes, it features cliffs and abysses along the route, with enough hairpin turns to make one dizzy. The road along the mountainside offers a romantic, breathtaking landscape perfect for motorcycling. The ascent, often referred to as “the Great Wall of Vietnam,” feels like a scene from a fairy tale.
Dong Van - After dinner, a stroll through Dong Van Ancient Town is planned, where traditional music can be enjoyed, and cultural exchanges with local Hmong people can take place.
Dong Van - Yen Minh - Ha Giang - Sapa
Yen Minh - 07:30 Breakfast at the homestay, followed by farewells to the host. At 09:00, a visit to the Hmong King’s Palace, a national architectural and artistic relic since 1993, is scheduled. At 10:00, photos can be taken at Tham Ma Pass, one of Ha Giang’s most impressive passes, linking Yen Minh and Dong Van districts. Lunch is at 12:00 in Yen Minh Town. The Lao and Chai viewpoint offers stunning views of terraced rice fields and a solitary tree. By 16:00, return to the hotel in Ha Giang city to await the bus to Sapa. Arrival in Sapa is at 22:00, with an overnight stay at a hotel.
Ha Giang - The Ha Giang loop is a scenic motorbike route in Vietnam, winding through majestic mountains and offering panoramic views of rice terraces.
Sapa - Arrival is around 10 pm, with an overnight stay at a hotel in Sapa.
Sapa - Lao Chai - Ta Van Village
Lao Chai - After breakfast, a walk towards Muong Hoa Valley is planned, where the magnificent landscape can be admired. The area offers a chance to discover the stunning scenery of the Hoang Lien mountain ranges and meet Black H’mong tribes. Trekking through terraced rice paddies and minority villages along the Muong Hoa River is possible, with an opportunity for a refreshing swim.
Crossing the suspension bridge leads to the Zay village, arriving at Ta Van, where dinner is cooked over a wood fire, enjoying the company and hospitality of a Hmong/Zay family, with an overnight homestay.
Ta Van - Situated in Muong Hoa Valley in Lao Cai Province, Ta Van Village is a favored destination for those exploring “What to do in Sapa?” The village is notable for its diverse ethnic composition, with the Giay, Hmong, and Red Dao ethnic groups coexisting harmoniously. Surrounded by terraced rice fields, the village offers both practical and aesthetic benefits. Practically, the terraces maximize the use of limited arable land in the mountainous region for rice cultivation. Aesthetically, they create a breathtaking panorama, especially during the growing season when they are lush green.
Ta Van - Giang Ta Chai - Sapa - Hanoi
Giang Ta Chai Village - Enjoy the mountainous landscape with a sunrise coffee, followed by a delicious breakfast before trekking through bamboo forests towards Giang Ta Chai waterfall. Cross a rattan suspension bridge to enter Giang Ta Chai village, inhabited by the Red Zao minorities. Experience their daily life, then cross the Muong Hoa River up the mountain to visit Su Pan village of the H’mong people. A bus ride back to Sapa town follows, with a fresh shower at the base in town before heading to the bus station for a 4:30 pm departure back to Hanoi. Arrival in Hanoi is around 10:30 pm, with the tour concluding (a 15-minute walk back to the hostel is required).
Sapa - After lunch, return to the Sapa hotel and take the 4 pm bus back to Hanoi. The tour concludes at Hanoi Old Quarter around 10 pm.
