I rode my own scooter with no license and was waved through all police checkpoints - DO THE LOOP ON YOUR OWN BIKE, NO LICENSE REQUIRED. I can't stress how much more fun and adventurous it was to be riding my own motorbike through the mountains, paddies and villages. I navigated hairpin turns, braved slick roads and even off-roaded a bit. If you want to have an adventure, this is the way to do it - not on the back of someone else's bike in a group of 20. For context: I love riding scooters, but I've never ridden a motorcycle. I had never even tried a semiautomatic. I am VERY comfortable on anything with wheels though. I was little nervous taking one on the Ha Giang loop, but my guide Long was awesome at keeping me at safe speeds. I did the 3d2n tour with Long, and here's my breakdown: Sights: There are so many breathtaking views that you'll just ride by some without stopping. I highly suggest flagging down your guide at some points if you'd like to take some pictures. Most of the planned stops are popular picture taking spots, so they're always crowded with other tours as well. TIP: if you see a place you'd like to take a picture, signal to your guide to stop. There are LOT of places that I thought were beautiful that we just drove straight through. Homestays: very comfortable in charming towns. I got the option for my own room with bathroom and the mattresses were comfy and the water was hot. The Du Gia village homestay was particularly memorable, as the operator was a British expat who was actually a world-class chef who made a memorable dinner. Dong Van was a lively mountain town with a night market you could visit. Food: EVERY meal was awesome. Some stops you would get a full spread of food, other places you'd step into a small local restaurants for a bowl of noodles. My final night we got hotpot, really hit the spot.

The best of Ha Giang & all to ourselves - The tour was incredible! I was very pleased with the itinerary - a mix of great views, trekking and cultural activities. Our guides did a great job of getting to our stops before the crowds so we could fully enjoy. It felt off the beaten track. We would get to the places where huge groups of tourists would stop for their photos, but then we’d keep going further and discover genuinely local and authentic places free of crowds. The “premier” home stays were generally very good, with gorgeous scenery and great food. Tuan and Manh were both very sweet and funny guides. They took it on themselves not only to ensure we were always happy and be our safe drivers, but opened up the world of Ha Giang to us with so much interesting knowledge about the culture of Vietnam and the places we visited. Phong at reception was so genuine and lovely. She led us in a cooking class in a family home which was a highlight of the trip. You get a glimpse into real Vietnamese life, and the family home is breathtakingly beautiful.

Perfect 👌 - It was amazing, the scenery, the guide (Sony), the drivers but also the atmosphere and the welcome within the homestays. Guides and drivers at the top! and need no license if you want to ride a motorcycle yourself (50cc only). Thanks for everything, you are on top ❤️

Choose YOLO you won't regret it! - Choosing Yolo for our Hà Giang Loop was the best decision! From the girl in the reception to our drivers, everybody was so helpful and friendly. We felt really good from the beginning. Everything is really well organized, all the accommodations was lovely, way better than expected even in the dorm room. The food was delicious and varied. But the highlights are the drivers who was just so nice, kind and smiley. Big wink to Bang and Nam, with whom we ended up the loop. They always took care of us and We had such good time with them ❤️ You're the best, thank you for this memories for life ❤️

Yolo loop tour 3D2N - 3 days and 2 unforgettable nights... The circuit is top, the beautiful scenery... I chose the private tour option with Tuan Speedy as driver 😁. Excellent driver and guide. The restaurants and rooms were just perfect! A fourth day would have been great... The welcome by Luna at Yolo Hotel is so full of kindness...I recommend!

Best tour for self riders! - Yolo were amazing from the beginning, great communication, our tour guide Jelly was incredible and had very good English. The bikes and helmets were in great condition and the food and accommodation was better than expected. We had more interaction with the locals and still got to see all the iconic sights. Highly recommend booking with Yolo for a self ride adventure.

Unforgettable Solo Adventure on the Ha Giang Loop with the Incredible Guide, Jelly - The YOLO Ha Giang Loop is, without a doubt, one of the most fulfilling, enjoyable, and unforgettable tours you can experience—even as a solo traveler. The journey offers the perfect mix of adventure, cultural immersion, and jaw-dropping scenery, making it a must-do for anyone visiting Vietnam. A huge shoutout goes to my guide, Jelly, who made the entire experience truly exceptional. Not only is Jelly incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, but his excellent English made it so easy to connect and understand every detail about the region. Whether it was explaining the cultural significance of local landmarks, sharing fascinating stories, or simply cracking jokes to keep the mood light, Jelly brought so much energy and positivity to the trip. As someone traveling alone, I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He ensured I felt safe and comfortable the entire time, especially on the challenging yet thrilling mountain roads. His attention to detail and dedication to making the trip memorable were unmatched. The landscapes along the Ha Giang Loop are absolutely breathtaking—think towering limestone peaks, misty valleys, and quaint villages frozen in time. The solo experience allowed me to fully immerse myself in the beauty and serenity of the region, while Jelly’s guidance made it all the more enriching. If you’re considering the YOLO Ha Giang Loop, go for it—it’s an adventure of a lifetime. And if Jelly is your guide, you’re in the best hands possible. Thank you, Jelly, for an unforgettable solo journey!
