Ha Giang – Quan Ba Heaven’s Gate – Tham Ma Pass - H’Mong King Palace – Dong Van Ancient Town
Ha Giang - Enjoy breakfast at 8:00 at Odyssey Hostel, choosing between American or Vietnamese options with tea/coffee. Meet your tour guide and start the loop at 08:30. If you’re driving yourself, you’ll receive a brief lesson on motorbike riding and follow the tour guide according to a set schedule.
Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Quan Ba Heaven Gate is a stunning and picturesque location in Ha Giang province, offering views of mountains, valleys, and villages. A highlight here is the Twin Mountains, also known as the Fairy Breast Mountains, which are two round hills resembling a pair of breasts. Legend has it that they were left by a fairy who fell in love with a Hmong man but had to return to heaven.
We will stop at the checkpoint for about 20-30 minutes.
Yen Minh - From 11:00 – 12:00, lunch will be served in Yen Minh Town, featuring rice, meat, egg, and vegetables. Vegetarian options are available upon request.
Thẩm Mã Homestay - The Tham Ma pass stretches about 5 km at an altitude of 1500 meters, featuring a sharp, zigzagging road. At the top of the pass, there’s a checkpoint where you can take photos of the winding s-shaped road. Ethnic minority children often walk around here with flowers.
We will stop at the checkpoint for about 20-30 minutes.
Dinh Vua Meo - The Hmong king palace was the residence of two Hmong kings, Vuong Chinh Duc and Vuong Chi Sinh, who ruled the mountainous region of Ha Giang province from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. Built between 1902-1907, the palace features a mix of Hmong, French, and Chinese architectural styles. It has 64 rooms divided into three zones and is surrounded by a protective stone wall. Located in Sa Phin valley, the palace is a national relic and a tourist attraction in Ha Giang province.
We will stop here for about 1 hour.
Dong Van Ancient Street - After a long day on the motorbike, you’ll stay at Dong Van ancient town, located in the center of Dong Van and surrounded by rocky mountains. The town is known for its centuries-old houses, lively highland markets, and festive evenings. It’s a cultural and commercial hub where you can find cafes, restaurants, homestays, and souvenir shops.
From 18:00 – 19:00, dinner will be served at a restaurant. Options include chicken hotpot or rice, meat, egg, and vegetables. Vegetarian options are available upon request. After dinner, you’ll have free time for activities like coffee, karaoke, drinks, or a massage (not included in the tour).
Dong Van Town - Ma Pi Leng Pass - Nho Que River - Du Gia Village
Dong Van Ancient Street - Check out at 8:00 and enjoy a Vietnamese breakfast. Around 8:30, we’ll head to 4C road to continue conquering the Ha Giang Loop.
Ma Pi Leng Pass - Ma Pi Leng Pass is one of Vietnam’s most famous and dangerous passes, known for its rugged curves and steep cliffs. The pass is about 20 km long and 1,200 - 1,400 meters above sea level, offering spectacular views of the Nho Que River and the Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia. As a UNESCO Global Geopark, it features unique rock formations and the cultural heritage of local ethnic communities. Ma Pi Leng Pass is ideal for adventure and nature lovers.
We’ll stop at some checkpoints with the best views, resting for about 30 - 45 minutes.
Nho Que River - Nho Que River flows through Ha Giang Province and offers stunning views of the Tu San Canyon and Ma Pi Leng Pass. It’s a popular spot for adventure and nature enthusiasts. We’ll take a 2-hour boat trip along the river to admire the scenery.
Meo Vac - After a long morning, we’ll head to Meo Vac Town for lunch before taking another road back to Ha Giang city. Lunch includes rice, meat, and vegetables. Vegetarian options are available upon request.
Du Gia - Du Gia village is a serene and beautiful place in Ha Giang province, situated in the middle of Du Gia national park. Though less popular than other Ha Giang destinations, it has its own charm. Home to 14 villages and 9 ethnic minority groups, including the Tay, Hmong, and Lo Lo, Du Gia offers unique traditions, costumes, and languages. You can visit the Du Gia waterfall, just 5 km from the main town, for a refreshing and scenic spot to swim, jump off rocks, or enjoy the view. The village features stunning landscapes of mountains, rice fields, and traditional wooden houses.
Du Gia Village - Road 181 - Lung Tam Weaving Village - Ha Giang City
Du Gia - Breakfast is served around 8 - 9 AM, after which we’ll return to Ha Giang city.
Lùng Tám - Lung Tam weaving village showcases the traditional Hmong linen weaving process, passed down through generations. Located at the foot of a high mountain in Lung Tam commune, Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province, the village is home to about 130 Hmong households. They cultivate hemp and create various linen products, such as clothes, bags, scarves, and blankets.
The intricate and laborious Hmong linen weaving process involves 41 steps from planting hemp to dyeing and embroidering the fabric. Using natural materials and hand techniques, the Hmong people create unique and colorful patterns that reflect their culture and identity.
Ha Giang - We’ll arrive in Ha Giang city around 4 – 5 PM (or earlier if you need to catch the 4 - 5 PM bus to Hanoi).
