Highlights
  • Haarlem Railway Station - We start at the railway station in Haarlem. One of the older railway stations in the Netherlands
  • Molen De Adriaan Museum - We will see across the water the Molen De Adriaan that is beautifully lightend in the evening.
  • Teylers Hofje - You will walk past one of the most beautifull hofjes in Haarlem which you can enter provided that you keep peacefully as people live in the hofje.
  • Teylers Museum - You will walk past one of the biggest museum that you can find in Haarlem. THe museum is created by Pieter Teyler, an important figure in Haarlem and our story. Later you could go back to visit the museum in earnest. Note that admission into the museum is not needed for playing the Discovery Trip and is also not included.
  • De Waag (1595) - You will walk past the old Waag of Haarlem. This was the place where people would weigh their goods for the market and pay their taxes on these goods.
  • Frans Hals Museum - Hal - You will stop at the Frans Hals museum to solve one of the puzzles. This museam is dedicated to Frans Hals, a dutch painter that lived in Haarlem. Later you could go back to visit the museum. Note that admission into the museum is not needed for playing the Discovery Trip and is also not included.
  • Vleeshal - Thee Vleeshal used to be the place where the people of Haarlem bought their meat. Now, it is an exposition centre which holds a crucial piece of information to solve the game. Feel free to visit the exposition centre after you finished the game if it seems intresting to you. Note that admission into the exposition centre is not needed for playing the Discovery Trip and is also not included.
  • Sint-Bavokerk (Church of St. Bavo) - During the Trip you will visit the Church of St. Bavo which is one of the biggest and oldest churches in Haarlem in the middle of the Grote Markt. Note that entering the church is not needed for playing the Discovery Trip and is also not included. But feel free to do so on your own accoord.
  • Grote Markt - The Trip will end at the Grote Markt in the middle of the city centre.

During the Discovery Trip “The Missing Portrait of Pieter Teyler,” you’ll embark on a 90-minute self-guided walking tour through the city of Haarlem. In this time, you’ll visit Haarlem’s most iconic spots while solving engaging puzzles related to your surroundings. Aim for a new high score with your friends or family!

Since Discovery Trips are self-guided, there are no set start times. You can begin your adventure whenever you choose and take breaks as needed.

On this trip, your mission is to locate the missing portrait of Pieter Teyler, a notable Haarlem resident. His legacy includes the Teylers Museum and the Teylers Hofje. Clues suggest he hid a painting and scattered hints all over the city. Can you uncover the painting?

Nice trip! - It was a nice route through Haarlem with relevant points through the city. Don't forget to look around you while completing these puzzles, because you will walk along several beautiful streets. Very nice!

Exploring while puzzling - Had a great time with discovery trips. We walked a nice route along the canal and through several beautiful streets while passing some highlights of the city. Great way to spice up discovering a new or already known city.

As a walking tour fun, the game so so. - You visit beautiful places in the city, the rest was not so much fun, a bit boring and not very challenging.
