Sigiriya is surrounded by three National Parks and one Eco Park. Elephants are commonly observed throughout the month. Kaudulla National Park hosts the largest Elephant Assembly in Asia. Other than elephants, the park is home to 23 species of mammals including the Sambar Deer, Sri Lankan Axis Deer, Chevrotain, Wild Boar, Leopard, and Sloth Bear. Rare sightings of leopards and sloth bears could also occur.

The park welcomes 160 species of birds, among which large aquatic birds like the Spot-billed Pelican and Lesser Adjutant frequent the Kaudulla tank. The Asian Spoonbill, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Black-headed Ibis, Painted Stork, and Openbill Stork are typical sights in the park. The park’s skyline is constantly adorned by Peacocks, Eagles, and Giant Eagles native to Sri Lanka. A visit to Kaudulla offers an unmatched touring experience.
