Amazing trip, beautiful country enhanced by an excellent guide - Asanka was recommended on a Forum so I contacted the person who provided more details. From my first contact with Asanka I felt confident in our choice. Asanka is very responsive and helped me with an itinerary so we could see as much as we could on our first visit to Sri Lanka. With the time we had it wouldn’t be possible to fit in as much if we had organised our own transport. Asanka also suggested accommodation options. We went with smaller guesthouses / hotels that were perfect. This way we met some lovely Sri Lankan families and ate some great food. Again if we had booked ourselves we wouldn’t have experienced the spectacular sunrise with a view at Ella. Above all Asanka is the best guide. Extremely knowledgeable and proud of Sri Lankan history, culture and wildlife which meant we learned so much on our visit. We loved visiting Sri Lanka and would definitely return. The highlights included; - seeing leopards, sloth bear, herds of elephants together, countless bird species and monkeys - temples and historical sites - hikes up hills - train ride with the most scenic view ever - procession at Ella - tea plantations - waterfalls. Thank you Asanka.

Lifelong memories and experiences of Sri Lanka, July 2023 - We were met, after 2 long flights, from London, via Doha, at Colombo airport, by our guide. This meant that we were able to travel, in an air conditioned car, with cold water to drink, which was just what we needed. We travelled to our homestay, near a famous wildlife safari park and settled in. The next day, early, we toured the park by jeep. This lasted all day and included meals. We saw leopards, a sloth bear, eagles, owls, water buffalo, wild boar, langors, peacocks, crocodiles and numerous other animals and birds. On the following day, we went to one of the huge wildlife conservation parks and saw herds of elephants in the wild. Over the following days, we visited Rock caves, temples, stupas and some of the holiest sites in Sri Lanka and the world for Buddhism. We enjoyed a spectacular train ride through hills, valleys and tea plantations in the late afternoon and sunset. We visited famous towns and tea plantations, and we stayed in 4 different hotels and homestays. All were lovely. This is only a sample of what we did. We were able to immerse ourselves in Sri Lankan culture, customs, lifestyle and food because we didn't have to worry about the logistics of travel. Consequently, we saw and experienced much more. We learned that Sri Lankans are very proud and knowledgeable about their wildlife and are very protective of it. Even in our last hotel, the pool lifeguards ensured the safety of a breeding pair of Red Wattled Lapwings and their chicks chicks, updating us daily on their progress. We packed a huge amount into our time in Sri Lanka. We enjoyed every minute of our time with our guide, Asanka. After a week of sightseeing, we checked into a hotel by the sea, at Hambantota, where we relaxed for a week, before being picked up, taken to Galle and then on up to our final stay before the return flights.
