- Tatehana Wharf Asaichi Hachinohe - There’s nothing quite like beginning the day at a Morning Market in Hachinohe. The Sunday Morning Market at Tatehana Wharf is the most renowned and beloved. It features a stunning variety of food to eat, produce and seafood to purchase, and sights to enjoy. As the seasons shift, so do the items on display, ensuring each visit is unique.
- Tanesashi Coast - The Tanesashi Coast in Hachinohe stretches from Kabushima Shrine to the neighboring town of Hashikami. Part of the Sanriku Fukko National Park, it offers breathtaking views, transitioning from soft sandy beaches to rugged cliffs and expansive wildflower fields, making it a must-see. While driving and biking are popular, walking the coast is recommended to fully appreciate its beauty. Start at Kabushima and follow the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail, a 1000km path through the national park, to reach the Tanesashi Natural Lawn.

- Kabushima Shrine - Perched atop a hill on Kabushima Island (now a peninsula due to a landbridge), the shrine is surrounded by the breeding grounds of the black-tailed gull. The shrine, Hachinohe residents, and the gulls have coexisted harmoniously for centuries, enduring wars, tsunamis, and famines. Although the shrine was destroyed by fire in 2015, the resilient people of Hachinohe have been rebuilding it, pausing construction annually to allow the gulls to breed peacefully. The shrine’s completion is scheduled for March 2020, just in time for the birds’ return.
