Emperor Shomu, in 744, ordered the establishment of Yakushiji, a notable temple on the mountain, attracting numerous visitors since then. The mountain also offers one of the spectacular viewpoints of Tokyo, with the observation deck providing lush panoramic views of the Kanto Plain, dotted with towering skyscrapers at a distance.
