Additional Information

The indigenous Peramangk people christened this region of the Adelaide Hills Bukatilla, a moniker you will encounter throughout the tour. This story is a pleasing revelation.

During the excursion, you will be exposed to the accounts of Prussian individuals who took refuge here following their escape from their King in 1838.

Subjected to tyranny from their King due to their persistent adherence to Old Lutheran religion, their experience is a compelling narrative of endurance, bravery, and belief. Coupling this tour with a Strudel crafting class offers guests a wholesome blend of cultural insight, and a vibrant hands-on gastronomic venture - unique to the Adelaide Hills.

This tour provides access to areas usually blocked from public view, offering multiple photo opportunities.

One of the crowning jewels of the tour is the visit to the earliest Germanic farmlet in the Southern Hemisphere, a spot that remains undisclosed as it sits on private land, only accessible through Hahndorf Walking Tours. Here, the concept of Fachwerk (Germanic) architecture gets detailed.

History and Cooking - Hahndorf Strassendorf Walking Tour. A wonderful morning spent with Sharon and Christine, sharing their knowledge of the history of Hahndorf and German cooking. Having visitied Hahndorf many times it was very intersting to find out the history of places we would normally walk past, Sharon was very passionate and inclusive with her story telling skills. I would highly recommend joining with Sharon and Christine for a fantastic experience.

Studel and Stroll Tour a must - Hahndorf is what I thought it would be and more. Especially after the fantastic Studel and Stroll Tour with Sharon. It was very interesting to learn about the town including its history struggles and triumphs of its men, women and its community. Can really see the passion in this town and its connection to their heritage. Strudel making & eating was wonderful. Definitely book at the Hahndorf in for lunch - not to be missed.

Fantastic walking tour of Hahndorf - a must do on your visit. - Sharon was fantastic. So knowledgeable and gave us a in depth history of the area, sharing significant sites and facts but in a way that was easy to appreciate and learn from. We did the Strudel making at the Hahndorf Inn first and thought our guide would be there for this.. We also enjoyed lunch at the hotel afterwards and had our own strudel served to us for dessert. It was a great way to spend a day in Hahndorf. Ian and Nat (visiting from NSW)

Great way to experience Hahndorf differently - We thoroughly enjoyed making the strudel (and eating it) and the walk around parts of Hahndorf that we had not seen on previous visits. The best part was when the tour guide was showing us one of the original homes, the owner came out and let us have a look inside.
