Day 1: Marangu to Mandara Hut
Marangu - Climbers are transported from their hotel to Marangu Gate, which is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters at the entrance to the rainforest. The trail ascends through the lush forest to Mandara Hut, located at 2,700 meters. This walk takes about 4 hours at a leisurely pace.

Day 1: Marangu to Mandara Hut
Marangu - Climbers are transported from their hotel to Marangu Gate, which is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters at the entrance to the rainforest. The trail ascends through the lush forest to Mandara Hut, located at 2,700 meters. This walk takes about 4 hours at a leisurely pace.
Day 2: Mandara to Horombo Hut
Horombo Huts - Climbers depart from Mandara around 9 o’clock. The first half-hour continues through the rainforest, after which the trail opens into alpine moorland for the approximately 7-hour trek to Horombo, which is at 3,700 meters.
Day 3: Horombo to Kibo Hut
Day 4: Kibo Hut to Summit, then descent to Horombo Hut.
Horombo Huts - Climbers are awakened at about 11 pm. After dressing in all their warm clothing, they enjoy a hot drink and set off at midnight.
Day 5: Horombo Hut to the Park Gate.
Mandara Huts - The descent from Horombo to Mandara Hut takes around 3 hours, and the final part of the descent through the forest to Marangu Gate takes an additional 2 hours.
