Highlights

Day 1. Arrival and transfer to Planet Lodge

Mount Kilimanjaro - Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, transfer to accommodation in Arusha, Planet Lodge. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro typically takes multiple days due to its altitude and the need for acclimatization to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. The most common routes take around 5 to 9 days for the ascent and descent. Trying to hike Kilimanjaro in a single day would be extremely challenging, risky, and not recommended due to the potential health hazards associated with rapid altitude gain. It’s crucial to follow established itineraries that allow for a gradual ascent to ensure the safety and well-being of climbers.

Day 2. Walking 4 Hours Mti Mkubwa campsite

Mount Kilimanjaro - Breakfast, drive to the gate of Londorosi for a few minutes of registration and other formalities. The 4WD will take you further up to Lemosho glades, thereafter you can walk for about 4hrs to Mti Mkubwa campsite (9,200ft) Dinner, and overnight at the camp.

Day 3. Walking Through the Moorland

Mount Kilimanjaro - Breakfast, leave the MtiMkubwa campsite for Shira plateau (11,550ft), walking through the moorland steepening track. Dinner and overnight at the Shira I, camp.

Day 4. Hike Across the High Desert

Mount Kilimanjaro - Breakfast, hike across the high desert to Shira II camp (12,220ft) with significant acclimatization effect as we go up the mountain.

Day 5. Barranco Camp.

Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, we leave Shira II for Barranco camp (13,100ft) overnight Barranco camp.

Day 6. Karanga Valley

Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, we leave Baranco Camp for Barafu Camp (14,910ft) will pass through the last water drop at Karanga valley on the way up overnight Barafu.

Day 7. Uhuru Peak through the Stella point

Mount Kilimanjaro - Wake up at midnight, and after a small snack, start ascending to Uhuru peak through the Stella point (18,640ft), then after reaching the summit, we will head down to Mweka Camp (10,100ft) for dinner and overnight.

Day 8. Ending off Climbing

Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, we will head down to Mweka gate with a lunch packet, and the waiting vehicle will take you to Planet Lodge.

Day 9. Transfer to the airport for your return flight.

Arusha - Today you have a dayroom to pack, freshen up, and get ready for your flight home or your onward adventures in East Africa.
