Highlights
  • Grand Pré National Historic Site - Grand-Pré stands as a significant monument that brings together the Acadian community. Visitors to this site will discover the story of Le Grand Dérangement: a poignant chapter in Acadian history that has influenced the vibrant culture of modern-day Acadians worldwide through its quiet yet powerful revival. The site honors the Grand Pré area as a hub of Acadian settlement from 1682 to 1755 and the Deportation of the Acadians, which began in 1755 and continued until 1762. For many Acadians around the globe, the site remains the heart of their ancestral homeland and a symbol of the enduring bonds that unite them. There is a fee to visit the museum, but no fee to see the church and the legendary statue of Evangeline (heroine of the Longfellow poem) and the Memorial Church.
  • Old Post Road - From the View Park on Old Post Road, you can gaze over the 1,300 hectares of farmland, marshes, and dykelands that make up the Landscape of Grand-Pré. Discover the profound human story within this land.

A vast panorama brings to life the efforts of industrious Acadians, who, in the 1680s, overcame geographic challenges and the world’s highest tides to establish thriving settlements. Their ingenious system of dykes remained a technological marvel for hundreds of years—expanded and maintained by English, Scottish, and Dutch settlers until the mid-20th century—and combined with a tumultuous regional history, led to the area’s designation as Canada’s 16th UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Also rich in Mi’kmaw tradition, the dramatic Cape Blomidon—which frames the dykelands—is said to harbor the spirit of the mythical watchman Kluscap, adding another layer to this culturally and naturally diverse landscape.

  • Blomidon Look-Off - Blomidon Look-Off is situated atop the North Mountain in the Fundy Shore and Annapolis Valley region. It is a small roadside stop offering a stunning panoramic view of the Annapolis Valley and the Minas Basin. On a clear day, you can see five counties and perhaps a few Bald Eagles from the lookout.
  • Hall’s Harbour - Hall’s Harbour Lobster Pound is a working lobster pound in the charming seaside village of Hall’s Harbour in the Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley region. It’s a great spot to enjoy some fresh Nova Scotia seafood.

Hall’s Harbour is an authentic fishing village dating back to 1779, when Captain Hall and his privateers used this natural harbor as a base. Take a walk along the harborfront boardwalk and explore the Lobster Pound’s buildings, which date back to the 1820s; interpretive panels provide you with a history of the buildings and area. Enjoy the excellent views of the world-famous Bay of Fundy tides along the way! There is a waterfront restaurant for a delectable seaside meal of lobster! Additional meal options are available. Meal not included.

  • Sheffield Mills - There is a good chance to see a Bald Eagle on this tour as Sheffield Mills is a Bald Eagle nesting area.
  • Fox Hill Cheese House - Fox Hill Cheese House is a cheese-processing facility located in Port Williams in the Annapolis Valley, crafting over 20 varieties of specialty cheeses, natural yogurt and gelato, and non-homogenized whole milk in bottles from their own herd of Holstein and Jersey cows.
  • Planters Ridge - Planters Ridge is housed in a renovated 156-year-old timber frame barn that combines historical features with modern touches. This artisanal winery has invested in state-of-the-art equipment, producing highly acclaimed wines worthy of the Planters Ridge label. With a focus on blends, they have developed a reputation for crafting aromatic whites and well-balanced, silky-smooth reds. In addition to their wines, they produce innovative specialty products including meads, crafted with locally sourced honey, as well as a premium cider blended with dark, local rum. Wine sampling, if you wish, is not included.
  • 1365 Church Street Vineyard and Winery - Welcome to 1365 Church Street Vineyard & Winery, in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. Known for its flower gardens and many bicycles surrounding the property, this 14.8-acre vineyard is just waiting for you.

Nestled among the vines, it boasts breathtaking views of the Wellington Dyke, North Mountain, and Cape Blomidon, making it an ideal stop on your tour through Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley wine region.

Come for the views and stay for the delicious wine tastings and cozy atmosphere. Wine sampling, if you wish, is not included.

  • Acadia University - Acadia University is a public, predominantly undergraduate university located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada, with some graduate programs at the master’s level and one at the doctoral level.
  • Wolfville - The Wolfville area has a long and storied history, with nearby Grand-Pré being a historically significant site marking the Deportation of Acadians from Nova Scotia.

Wolfville is also at the epicenter of Nova Scotia’s burgeoning wine scene, with eight wineries located within 10 km of the town’s center. Home to Devour! The Food Film Fest, the world’s largest food film fest, Wolfville boasts several charming and quaint restaurants and cafés, each dedicated to creating fresh, seasonal dishes from local produce and seafood. Wolfville is also home to Acadia University.

  • Luckett Vineyards - Crisp maritime breezes, legendary ocean tides, and brilliant sunshine converge to create an outstanding terroir on a hillside overlooking the magnificent Gaspereau Valley.

Located in the Bay of Fundy and Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia, Luckett Vineyards is open daily for wine tastings, with tours at 11 am and 3 pm. Enjoy stunning views of the Minas Basin and Cape Blomidon. Wine sampling, if you wish, is not included.

2 Great Tours With Paul - We had back 2 back cruises so had 2 stops in Halifax. We toured with Paul to the Annapolis Valley and also on the historic Halifax tour. We truly enjoyed our tours. Paul is very responsive to email or text or call and met us right across from the ship at Pier 22. We learned so much about Halifax and the surrounding area and its history as well as Titanic history as a bonus. The van was comfortable and the lunch stops were local restaurants and so good. The 2 winery stops in Annaoplis were so different ( one large and more formal and the other a family owned and run establishment with individual selections based on personal wine preferences) but we liked them both. You cant go wrong booking with Paul.

Beautiful Vistas, Personal Service - Paul really knew the best places in the area to visit. He was happy to give me some extra time at Grand-Pré when I mentioned I’m Acadian. He took us to Halls Harbor at just the right time to walk on the sea bed while the tide was out. He also had some fun short videos about local history for us to watch while on the way. The first winery he took us to was so much fun and felt like a personal wine tour. Lucketts was also fun to visit. I liked the way Paul’s tour focused on seeing the beautiful landscape and on smaller venues that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise, as well as the main stops.

A Must Do Tour Whilst in Halifax - My husband and I had scheduled two tours with Paul-this was the second. Paul really knows the best places to give guests a taste of the Annapolis Valley. The van he uses is also very comfortable. For the wineries, the highlight of the wineries was the 1365 Church Street Vineyard & Winery. We also had lots of great photo opportunities-including two nesting bald eagles. This tour is a 'Must Do' when in Halifax.

Wine, Cheese, and a very kind guide - Annapolis Valley was the 1st of 3 tours a colleague and I did with Paul. Paul is highly professional, knowledgeable, and later would find out incredibly caring and kind. Started with the Bay of Fundy and then saw bald eagles, got delicious gelato at a place that was not yet opened but the owner opened when she saw Paul arriving, and then delicious wineries and cheese. At lunch, I noticed my phone was missing and Paul traced steps back, called repeatedly, and even took me to a couple of phone companies when it was obvious my phone was gone. Did not get to do the final part of the tour but Paul went almost 2 hours over trying to help me find and replace the phone. Never saw someone go so out of his way to help. Luckily I had booked his other 2 tours in coming days (see other reviews).
