Coole Bustour - We spontaneously booked a red double-decker bus ride online. If you book online you get a discount. Our driver Sven has very charming and with wit supplemented the automatic announcement. Such a tour is worthwhile you come through the villa district and past the Hotel Atlantic. Otherwise all other sights are also on the tour through Hamburg. I can only recommend it.

Must do if spending a day in Hamburg! - Amazing way to see the city in a short period of time! Would recommend to anyone, especially if you are stopping in Hamburg for a day on a cruise.

If you are looking for hop on hop off tour - do this one. - The bus was comfortable and the commentary in English was clear and easy to follow (although the German commentary seemed to go on for longer, so may have been more in depth?). The bus had a 30min interval at each stop, better than others who had a 1 hour interval between buses at designated stops.

Great idea on a drizzly day - Like most hop on hop off good way to see around and choose where to get off. Headphones worked well and informative. Only issue was the foggy windows on a wet snd cold day. Take a cloth to de fog occasionally!

Disappointed compared with other cities - We hoping that the hop on hop off bus would stop by the cruise Terminal but we had the cruise line shuttle into Hamburg to use this service. Considering there were 5000 people onboard, is this not a missed opportunity? The bus we'd booked (lineA) was so late that I had to ring the company to make sure it was still running. Eventually it turned up albeit about 25 minutes late. Due to time constraints caused by local transport strikes, we decided to stay on the bus all the way round. Not to be unfortunately. We were about a third of the way round when the driver said he was taking a 25 minute break. We couldn't risk missing the ship so we "hopped" off and walked back to where we started. All in all not a great experience.

Bad experience - Booked online to include a boat tour. Very confusing as to which bus to get on and where. Drivers were not particularly helpful and ended up getting additional boat trip elsewhere. We are well travelled and this was by far the worst one that we have used.

Bus ride that never happened - It took a long time for the right bus to come to the stop we were waiting at once it did a few guests exited and the doors immediately closed. I walked up to the door as the bus started driving off. I banged on the door but the driver did not stop. We were unable to use these tickets that we purchased. Very disappointed.

Not a good experience. - Unfortunately we got the tour guide with the most ignorant attitude towards English speaking guests. All she did was cater to the German tourists, which made up over 95% of the people on the bus. She was brutal. My wife, who understands German explained that the guide would describe at length an historical landmark with infinite details in German and would then switch to English and remark “and here you will see an old house”. These types of comments made the Germans on the bus chuckle at our expense. It was a “hop on and hop off tour” but was raining that day and we wanted to stay on the bus. She kept reminding us that we could get off at any point in the ride. Once we’d had enough, we got off the bus and were greeted by cheers from the other passengers. They were all so rude. I was shocked. Never again.

Time of use of the ticket - Ordinary tourist bus. Very similar to the other cities of Germany. However, they do not warn that the ticket in the city of Hamburg is only valid on the day of purchase and not for 24 hours. Unfortunately I found out the worst way, because the boy who sold me didn't speak English.
