XXL harbour tour - really worthwhile - As is usual with harbor tours, it left about 15 minutes later. We traveled on the Kleinfriedrich. The roof was open, the staff were very friendly and there were plenty of drinks and ice cream on board. The big harbor tour was well worth it. A lot was shown and a lot of interesting information was given to the passengers. The information was conveyed in such a way that you understood it and really took something away with you. At first I was surprised that the bread looked so small and flat, but that was the only way the special route was even possible. The flat design made it possible to pass through a special lock and also to travel to the rear parts of the harbor. The Speicherstadt was also well visited and well explained. I can only recommend this tour to everyone.

Great harbor tour with live commentary! - Great harbor tour with live commentary! Everything was there, from the Speicherstadt to the container port. At the end we even drove to the yacht yard and past the cruise ships. Our captain knew his way around perfectly and told us lots of stories about the harbor and its inhabitants with typical Hamburg humor.

Worthwhile tour - For October this was a sunny day and perfect to take a2 hour tour of the port. We were on board the Rainer Abricht. The guide was very entertaining and had a good knowledge of the area. There was plenty of opportunity to take good photographs and even though we thought it was quite expensive we enjoyed it. However, they gave no discount for disabled people.

A harbour tour in Hamburg is mandatory - A harbour tour in Hamburg is obligatory and it is often discussed whether the one-hour tour is sufficient or whether it should be the two-hour tour. Our conclusion: 90 minutes would be perfect. The 2 hour tour (in best weather) had long passages where you have a lot of time to drink beer. But, you just can't fly past these places. Therefore the XXL tour is two hours. It was important for us to visit the Kohlbrand Bridge. The tour has to take the high and low tide into account - so the captain is flexible where to go first (Speicherstadt, water level was too low, with the onset of high tide sufficient). He knew a lot to tell, and there was certainly expertise, but he still remained funny and entertaining. The tour we had was in German, no idea if there are guided tours in other languages. During the Corona time it's a bit stupid: keeping distance is okay, but you have to wear the mask all the time, and buy drinks in advance (no catering). Nevertheless: better do the XXL tour and experience the harbour in its entirety.

Disappointing - As we boarded the boat, the crew were aware we were English. We knew that this tour would be in German but understood that we could download an app to get an English commentary. We set off from the dock side & the boat tour operator started a loud commentary straight away. We tried to signal to the speaker that we wanted to download the app & we were told to complete the download & insert the code - ‘What code?’ A scrappy leaflet was shoved in our direction & my husband downloaded the app, inserted the code on the leaflet & the commentary started but by this time it was out of sync with the tour & not easy to hear at all. I then downloaded the app on to my phone but the code would not work so we resigned ourselves at not being able to get any tour information at all. I cannot believe that on a full boat (capacity 220 persons) we were the only non German speakers & felt that very little provision was made to accommodate us. We did however see some interesting sights but would have loved to have understood the details behind them
