Great way to get to know the city! - Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He took us on a route that I’m guessing not many see…and we loved it! We covered a lot of ground in 3 hours and felt like we had a good feel for the city. I’d highly recommend taking this bike tour on your first day in the city!

Nice, easy and informative tour - We were glad to have found this tour kind of last minute in English at the 10:30 am time slot. We went to the specified location and we were absolutely ignored by the people at the bike shop and we thought we were probably in the wrong place. But the name on the bikes matched the one of the people offering the tour. Then we met our guide, Wilfred, who unlike the guys at the shop (not very friendly or welcoming) he was very nice and introduced himself. The bikes were what we call in the States “citi” comfort bikes and they came with a basket and a bell (LOL). So this is definitely a very easy ride and doesn’t require much biking skills and our guide took us on mostly pretty flat roads. The extensive three hour ride took us to some landmarks, parks and monuments and Wilfred was very good at telling us a lot about history, the city and its many contradictions and interesting factoids. I think our guide deserved five stars. The only reason why I didn’t give it a full five star review was because after our tour I walked towards the Heinrich Heine Monument and saw that there was a big festival about to set up with many food kiosks and noticed many people on their bikes partaking of the views and had it not been for my curiosity, I would have missed riding around and seeing a much nicer side of Hamburg. In fact, the tour didn’t take us to the nice area where all the fancy local and non shops are (Neuer Wall) or by the bridge with all the swans and ducks, or by the iconic water fountain in the middle of the lake. Maybe this is of no interest to a local person, but for someone like us (non European tourists) this would have been a missed opportunity to see a very vibrant, beautiful side of town. So maybe after you ride, make sure you walk this side of town and get a wurstel and potato meal in this huge plaza to complete your tour.
