A must-do activity in Hanoi, Vietnam - We stopped at so many hidden gems and tasted so many local dishes. The tour guide, Rose, is actually a chef and highly knowledgeable about the local cuisine. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with a fantastic tour guide.

If in Hanoi, don’t miss Rose! - What a wonderful three days we spent with Rose!
First she took us on a streetfoodtour where we ate so many different local delicacies at places you would definitely miss out on going by yourselves.
Ofcourse, Banh Mi and Egg Coffee were also included 😉
Rose took us on a scootertour the next day where she showed us the bigger Hanoi, and in the meantime telling us so much about the Vietnamese traditions, culture and religions. In the evening, we went to her place at the outskirts of Hanoi. We did some local shopping with her for the dishes we would prepare that evening. Again, everything was so nicely arranged and we were so welcomed by her and her family. An evening to remember with great recipes to bring home!
Finally, the morning after she took us to Ninh Binh, where we explored the Am Tien Cave, took a boat ride at Trang An and after a superb lunch we biked through the ricefields at Tam Coc.
We were very happy to have met Rose and would highly recommend her as a tourguide!

Delightful Day on The Bay with Sammy ! - Sammy has a warm, delightful personality and is thoughtful and very efficient in terms of planning a full day that utilizes your time wisely. I enjoyed learning about the local culture, local cooking, and family life in the Halong Bay region of Vietnam. We had the choice to go to Hanoi or spend less time driving and delve a bit deeper in the surrounding area. Sammy knew I had a keen interest in cooking and learning about the food in this region, and delivered a wonderful discourse on local food markets and ingredients, complete with photos from her phone.
She took us straight away to a small farming village. We were the only visitors there, and enjoyed learning about how and why the property is divided among the villagers. We were able to visit their village temple, and see the monks tending to everyday chores. She arranged for a large boat out to the Dong Thien Cung (Limestone Caves). Do not miss this - unlike anything I have ever seen. Majestic and dramatic caves, full of stalagmites and stalactites. Sammy arranged an absolute feast on the boat for lunch featuring (caught that morning) fresh local seafood from grilled oysters, to a sweet type of grouper, and everything inbetween. She even arranged for non-seafood lunch for one of the members of our group who does not eat seafood. She is especially adept at the menu planning and arranging the cooking of lunch (by a chef), since she also runs a small cooking school as a side business. If I had the time I would have enjoyed taking one of her cooking classes.
We transferred to a sampan and continued to enjoy exploring the caves, recently crowned a UNESCO world heritage site. From here we visited a pearl farm. The manufacture of pearls was intriguing. The price of the pearls seemed to be on par or slightly less than the retail you might pay in the US.They were beautiful and I might suggest bargaining if you want to purchase either plain pearls or pearl jewelry. I noticed there are various types of "farms" in Vietnam that range from pearls to silk. I could not help but get the sense these are operating specifically for the tourist trade.
They exist in all 6 of the countries I visited in Southeast Asia. They are engineered to appeal to tourists from all over the world, so do not be surprised if some of the styles are not quite what you might expect for a USA customer.
I would whole heartedly recommend Sammy for your tour, and know she is very willing to adapt the day to suit your requests. It's an interesting area, so do some homework so you will have the background context to fully appreciate what you are seeing.

Best Decision of Our Trip - Book Sammy’s Cooking/Food Tour and Experience Vietnam like you never expected. - Book with Sammy while you can! Best part of our trip to Hanoi was getting to know Sammy, and learning how to make authentic Vietnamese food. Definitely book with her over touristy restaurant cooking classes. Sammy brought us to her village just outside of Hanoi in a comfortable car with private driver, and took us through her Village to show us the market, fruits/vegetables/seafood/meats we would use in our meal, and picked up fruits we hadn’t seen before along the way and let us try them. Sammy has a clean and spacious kitchen where she prepared and prepped all of our dishes ahead of time, and taught us how to make spring rolls - mine always fall apart at home - how to cut and prep the fresh ingredients, such as lemon grass which I’m not used to working with, and cooked the food with us. We learned to make dipping sauce that is AMAZING, and Obama pork noodles. We also made a fresh green papaya salad with shrimp, and took pictures along the way to replicate at home. I learned so much from Sammy about cooking with fresh herbs, and how to make nutritious meals my family will love. The food quality is so far beyond what you get at US Vietnamese restaurants, and I love the cuisine even more now. Sammy also did our waking and street food tour in Hanoi the day before, and shared the history of the city, languages, different religions, and how the Country is evolving commerce. Sammy is true talent, and brilliant young woman. She is a University graduate and translator for English and French, so you are in excellent trustworthy hands, and no need to worry about language barriers. We are so grateful to have shared the last two days with her, and experienced Vietnamese culture in a way we never expected. Sammy, if you are reading this, we are eagerly awaiting your cookbook to recommend to all of our friends and family 💕💕💕 We are truly blessed to have met you, and call you our friend.

Best city and food tour guide in Hanoi - We highly recommend Sammy. If I can give her higher than five stars, I would. My husband and sisters were so happy with her tour. She is so knowledgeable about Hanoi and all the food tasting were excellent and delicious. Even though it is our second trip to Hanoi, we have learned so many new things about this beautiful city from her. We highly recommend her and found a new friend in Hanoi. She has satisfactorily answered all our questions and adjusted our tour according to our needs. Thank you so much Sammy for our perfect tour.
