We recommend taking a tour around the city!! - There are four types of tickets (1 lap, 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours). The departure point is in front of Hoan Kiem Lake on weekdays, and in front of the Opera House on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I took the 1 lap ticket departing at 3pm on Monday from Hoan Kiem Lake near my hotel. It was 900 yen. After reading reviews, I found that other tickets had a lot of negative reviews about not being able to transfer properly, so I chose the 60-minute 1 lap ticket, which was very good. It was a hot, sunny day, but it was comfortable once we started riding. They also lend out Vietnamese parasols. I was able to listen to the explanations in Japanese with free headphones. I was able to tour the old town on my own, but it was nice to be able to see the city of Hanoi from a high place. The ticket was paid for with ANA miles, which I was able to exchange for Belta activities, which was helpful (I had miles that expired at the end of March, so I was glad I didn't waste them).

Very Enjoyable - I loved this trip. I'd walked and visited many of the destinations already and it was great to see them from above and how they were linked to each other geographically. It was very enjoyable sitting up top in the late afternoon,a lovely breeze. Great to see the traffic and the roads. There was audio, that lagged and occasionally caught up, but it was fun trying to spot the target. Cheap and a great way to get around the city. Highly recommend at the beginning of your trip.

A great way to see the city - This is the best way to get around and see a city. We purchased the 48 hour pass and highly recommend this one. We used it over 2 days and could have actually had it for longer. Some tours sites that we visited were over 3 hours long (eg prison). I suggest doing the full loop first to see what it entails and then deciding where you want to get off on and start.

Good introduction to Hanoi city - We bought a 24hour ticket for the family. The staff on-board was helpful and even checked on us mid trip to ask if we would like to get off a stop. We traveled with an elder so we decided to take a round trip on the bus to view Hanoi city and listen to the audio guide. New ear phones were provided. Unfortunately, there were a few seats where the audio guide device were not working and we had to find other seats with working devices.

Interesting historical sights - Some location drop-offs were a couple blocks from the actual site. Also, the commentary did not always match what one could see – although it was very interesting. The upstairs has a better view than downstairs. The price was comparable to other city tours. Make sure you get an approximate time schedule of when the buses are arriving at their various sites. Ho Chi Minh mausoleum is only open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. We found the temple of literature very interesting.

Hanoi City Hop on Hop off bus tour. - Probably not worth it unless you have an hour to kill. Buying ticket fine, getting on fine however, English guide thru the ear buds was not on the English channel. Eventually found the channel which was ok with a lot of ok info with a few bright golden nuggets e.g 5 million motorbike for a 7 million population 🤔 and walking around it felt like it. The bus was ok, no hold ups and a great view of traffic jams, no a few key buildings and that’s your lot. Obviously saw a few things we may not of seen during our few days here. Staff were polite and with a gentle breeze it made the trip a bit more enjoyable. Glad we didn’t do the 90 minute tour!

Has a few hiccups - Typical hop on and off bus tour, just a heads up on a few things. They don't stop at the stops unless you request them to. You need to download a QR code to get the audio commentary. A few problems, you need to have Wi-Fi access, assuming you have access you then need to have either a headphone compatible port on your phone to go with those provided or have your own with you. I didn't have Wi-Fi and my partner has an iPhone. So we had no idea what we were seeing. It was an expensive bus ride around the city.

Poor experience - We had a really poor experience with this tour and wished we hadn’t wasted our money. It did not include everything they list out on the website is “included” and the employees on the bus were not helpful and were completely uninterested in their customers. The bus did take us to most of the main attractions (the weekend route is shorter and doesn’t include a couple stops) but it just wasn’t a pleasant experience. In addition to that, it was hard to get tickets (website wasn’t working and no contacts listed helped, so had to buy in person and they only took cash). I have taken such tours in other cities and they can be a great experience - this one just needs to be better managed!

Complete waste of time (unless you like traffic jams) - Never has so little been learnt by so many. Complete lack of relevant or interesting information; the information that is given is always cut off in the middle of the sentence and is about buildings or a part of the city that you aren’t at. The route goes up and down the same roads several times, which given that the average speed is 2 mph, makes for an incredibly boring tour.

Don't waste your money, just awful. - Worst bus tour we ever took and we always try the bus, tour to get our bearings. It cost about 19 euro each. There was barely any commentary and what there was did not correspond to where we were at the time. We tried to get off at one stop to discover they don't stop unless you are already downstairs. The timetable is of no relevance and the buses leave people behind which is really not OK when the next bus is about 40 minutes. When we got back on there were no seats with a connection for the earplugs so we had zero commentary. Avoid it and save your money. We actually gave up on it and got off. We see more by doing that.
