-
Chua Tran Quoc - The first stop is Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest pagoda located on Golden Fish Island in West Lake. At approximately 1,400 years old, Tran Quoc Pagoda is Hanoi’s oldest temple. It is situated on the small Golden Fish Island in West Lake (Ho Tay), connected to the lake banks by a causeway. It’s a scenic spot, but the temple wasn’t always here. Originally built on the banks of the Red River in the 6th century, the pagoda was moved to its current location in 1615 due to the river’s changing course threatening to wash it away.
-
Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum - The next stop is the Ho Chi Minh complex, where you can see the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh and walk around the garden to see two houses where he lived and worked from 1954 to 1969. The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum commemorates Ho Chi Minh, a great leader of Vietnam. It has become a must-see place for visitors to Hanoi.
-
One Pillar Pagoda - Then visit the One Pillar Pagoda, which worships the Goddess of Mercy and is the most unique pagoda in the world. One Pillar Pagoda (Chua Mot Cot) is one of the most delightful architectural complexes in Hanoi, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists.
-
Vietnam Museum of Ethnology - We continue to the Vietnam Ethnology Museum to learn about the culture of the 54 ethnic groups living throughout Vietnam. The Vietnam Ethnology Museum in Hanoi offers insight into these ethnic groups to preserve cultural heritage and promote socio-cultural diversity within the country. Special Note: We will visit the Women’s Museum instead of the Ethnology Museum, which is closed on Mondays. Then we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch with Vietnamese cuisine.
-
Temple of Literature & National University - After lunch, we will visit the Temple of Literature, the first university of Vietnam, established in the 11th century. The Temple of Literature in Hanoi (Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam Ha Hoi) is a historical-cultural relic visited by many students to pray for luck in their studies and exams, as well as a popular tourist destination. During your Hanoi city tour, take the time to visit this must-see site. There will be many intriguing things to learn and discover.
-
Hoa Lo Prison - At 3:15 pm, we will continue to the Hoa Lo Prison Museum, originally used by French colonists in Indochina for political prisoners and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War. During this later period, it was known to American POWs as the “Hanoi Hilton.” The Hoa Lo Prison Museum in Hanoi is a must-visit tourist spot for its historical significance and intriguing exhibits.
-
Old Quarter - After visiting Hoa Lo Prison, our driver and guide will take you back to your hotel or place in the Hanoi Old Quarter Area between 4:00 and 4:30 pm. The tour concludes.
