Could be better - I often do hop-on hop-off buses when I visit big cities. Good experience until a tour group came onto the bus and their tour guide started speaking loudly to her group. I mean the audio commentary is available with the earphones provided. It takes away other people’s experience.

Good way to see all sights in a short time. Nicely airconditioned. Friendly staff. - We decided that we wouldn’t be able to walk with our 7 and 10 year old to all sights outside the old town as it was 35degrees Celsius. And we only had one day to see the most important sights. Therefore we decided to spent the money on Hop-on Hop-off. It was nice and cool insight and we were always welcomed by the staff. The busses were not really always on schedule so we had to wait in some places but we managed to get cold beverages during the wait from nearby shops. All in all it was a good way to get around but maybe if it’s not so hot you can do some walking and some taxi/cyclo in between and save some money.

Enjoyable - Good way to get bearings of city, and visit tourist locations within city, the usual. Hard to hear and understand English recording at times

Takes you round places too far to walk in the heat! - We opted for the single ride around to obtain a perspective. Downstairs, the bus is air conditioned, but the views are limited depending on where you sit as there are pictures on the windows. The headphones were used, (wiped down), and the information in English was sporadic and could have been better. They did offer Vietnamese hats for those sitting up top, which is a bonus, when it’s really hot.

Better than a taxi - Good way to get around when you first arrive but audio didn’t work properly. You are able to stop at most points of interest with enough time to explore before the next bus comes. The jail is well worth a visit but plan on a longer stop.

Not Recommended - Very disappointing. Headsets did not work. Very poor compared to European Hop On Hop Off operations we have experienced. A half day tour in Hanoi would be better value in my opinion . John & Bonnie (Canada)😂

Terrible - Please please avoid. Where do I start?? My list of complaints is endless. They didn't give you headphones. Those who were lucky enough found headphones on back of seat. The issue I have with that is, do you really want to use headphones that have probably been used by loads of people... and not cleaned?? So in our case, 3 adults, 1 pair headphones...we cleaned ourselves. The other 2 didn't know wtf was being said. Very unprofessional, lied to about where to get bus/start. Spent a long time getting somewhere that we were told was 10 minute walk away. And I can on and on. If you book this by the lake, pay half the price and use mini bus service that is next to this company English speaking guides too!!!

Abandoned in Hanoi! - Terrible. Had to continually move from seat to seat to find unfragmented commentary. Communication awful too. We hopped off at one of the most popular sites which happened to be on a loop. After visiting the site we waited over an hour with no site Of Hanoi City Tour bus. In this time,, three competitors' buses passed the stop. As darkness drew in, we took a taxi (which cost more than the original 24hr bus ticket) to return to the start of tour. On complaining to the ticket office, the staff were powerless to offer any compensation. All that was offered was a weak apology and a suggestion to return the next day to see the rest of the tour by using up the remaining time on our 24 hr ticket! I told them the prospect of being abandoned again was not something I wanted to do. This company had abandoned customers and were unable to offer even a refund for failing to deliver on its obligations, There was no warning on the bus or a sign at the bus stop that a company decision had been made to avoid the most popular part of the route! Do not use Hanoi City Bus Tour. At least its competitor, City Sightseeing tour, appeared to conscientiously fulfil its commitment to visit all its stops no matter the traffic conditions.
