Nice tour, but some things could get improved - In general we liked the tour and had a nice stay in Pu Luong. Organization: - You start the tour in Hanoi with people from different groups. All the groups split up in Mai Chau. - Itinerary was changed spontaneously and we did the cave tour on our first day and bamboo rafting on our last day, because 2 other persons at the hotel wanted to do the cave tour at that day, so they put us together. It was fine, but would have been great to get informed about it. We also needed to tell our guide which tour we booked and what is included. Definitely seemed totally unorganized. - We did everything, which was in the description. - On the second day we had a new tourguide, which would have been great to be informed about this as well. Our tourguide, who went with us to the cave the first day even said that we will meet him at 8 the next day. Both tourguides were super friendly, so it was not a big deal. - Every day Huy from Local Tours wrote me and asked how our day went, which was nice. Tourguides: - Very friendly. - English was good, but needs to get improved. We sometimes needed to use Google Translator. - In general both tourguides did a good job, told us some details about PuLuong and tried to reply to all our questions. Food and Eco Garden: - Food was delicious and more than enough. - Price for drinks were good. Fresh juice 50k, beer 30k. - Eco Garden is beautiful. Especially the pool area is really nice and you can relax there. Pu Luong: Pu Luong offers a quiet beautiful landscape to relax and explore. Various ethnic cultures live here in the countryside and manage their rice fields and livestock, renew their roofs with banana leafs and their fences with bamboo and wood. It is interesting to observe the people in their everyday life and to walk through small valleys along countless rice and vegetable fields (corn, peanut etc.). Everthing slows down the time. In the evening you can see high hills and clouds gathering on the slopes. Sometimes you can hear and see an upcoming thunderstorm hours in advance from far away. In the morning the landscape presents itself in mystical fog. Pu Luong is definitely worth a visit.

Make sure to do your own research - First we got picked up by a van that was shared with some other people. Very comfortable! We arrived in pu luong at the eco garden retreat, which was an amazingly beautiful place with great staff! We did two walking tours with our loval guide Adam and saw the most authentic and amazing places in Pu Luong. Definitely a highlight of our visit to Viet Nam. Till this moment this tour was a 5/5 stars experience. The day after we got picked up by another van to drive us to Ninh Binh. The van was not the cleanest one but oh well that’s okay. In the afternoon we arrived at secret garden resort in ninh binh so we could have a nice evening without any tours etc planned. However, the “resort” was disgusting. Horror vibes disgusting. Mold on the shower, used q-tips on the floor, a bath mat that had never seen the inside of a washing machine, dust everywhere, and worse… We contacted our host, who also stayed at the same hotels just for the sake of being there for us, to tell we wanted to go sleep at a different hotel. We paid quite an amount for this whole tour, and the prizes of hotels in Viet Nam are really really low. We had to find the replacement hotel ourselves but it was possible to change. Our afternoon and evening were wasted but at least we slept at the nice banana resort in ninh binh. The next morning we had to check out right away even though we were promised to be able to stay till after lunch. We checked out and went to a place not communicated before. Here we joined a group who were on a day-tour from hanoi to ninh binh and our original host left to Hanoi. We had a total different tour than was promised to us and it was very rushed, packed and we had horrible lunch. Eventually we went back to Hanoi and got dropped off at the place. Our original host was nowhere to be found but that was okay as we knew what to do. Overall our suggestion is to do some research and book the hotels and transport yourself. It can be done for a 10th of the price you pay here AND you’ll receive what you pay for. After 1.5 beautiful day this whole trip went to hell but we got no apologies or money back. Just fix it yourself, you can book many nights at a resort for this price.
