An impressive experience! - We were there on our own initiative without an organized tour group. The experience was impressive, we enjoyed the stay and the sightseeing. Both the excavations at Göbleki Tepe and Karahan Tepe were just as impressive as the reconstruction of the city of Harran. It was just a shame that the museums in Sanliurfa were still closed. The detour to the grotto of Abraham and Eyüb (Job or Hiob) was just as memorable as the trip to the “city of the dead”. We were very impressed by the reconstruction of the old town after the earthquake and flood. In contrast, the traces of Armenian history were still very depressing. The pilgrims and the many families and young people around the Pond of Abraham and the Halil Rahman Mosque impressed us with the peace they radiated.
