• Garden Castle - You will be picked up at 5.30am (any hotel in Umhlanga or on the Durban beach front. Arrive at Garden Castle camp site at 8.30am, start hiking at 9am. Spend 4-5 hours in the magnificent Drakensberg mountains, surrounded by noting but natural beauty. We will visit Pillar Cave, Pillar Cave Annex, a waterfall, a suspension bridge and other interesting places.
  Return to our starting point around 1pm. relax under the trees while having some light snacks and refreshments (all provided) before we head back to Durban. Arrive at your hotel around 5pm.
  Duration of the hike is appr. 3-4 hours. grading: 2/5 appr 9km.
  Hiking boots or walking shoes with good grip, a hat, trail food, water and a backpack -to carry all that- are essential. Moderate fitness required.
  Please note that this hike is weather dependant (there are two small river crossings which can be challenging after rain.

Hiking in the Drakensberg is an adventure on a different level. The places we will visit are so remote, its very unlikely that you will meet any other human being out there.
This is an intimate/small group experience (max 4 people+guide) and is a nice and easy hike in the Southern Drakensberg. Suitable for almost anyone. You will see some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Crystal clear mountain streams and rock pools, an awesome suspension bridge, beautiful flowers and vegetation, Rhino peak in the distance and endless natural beauty.
