Additional Information

Enjoy Japanese cultural lesson in 300-year old temple in Miyajima. We are located just about 5min walk from the Miyajima ferry port, yet a little off from busy tourist spot. You can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the temple.

We start the lesson with dressing you up with kimono.

Tea ceremony is conducted by our tea master in authentic tea room. We will guide you through the ceremony so that you will know what is going on. Taste sweet and matcha tea with proper manner. When the tea ceremony is done, now it is your part to make your own tea.Learn the name of the utensils and how to wisk Matcha tea.

Calligraphy has imported to Japan during 6C from China. Learn to draw the line with brush. Check the sample carefully to copy the Chinese character. Write your letter and name on the rice scoop. Rice scoop(shamoji) is lucky item in Miyajima.

We will take the pictures while you do the lessons and you can get them by answering our questionnaire.

From the Miyajima Ferry port, go across the public area. You will find the owl cafe and red sign of "okeiko Japan" Go through the alley next to the cafe, trough the tunnel and turn left. You will find another sign at the end of the street. Turn right and soon left. Come inside the temple.

Great experience, friendly staff. - Great experience, learning about tea and calligraphy. It was awesome to also put the Kimono on and take photos, the staff was very friendly.

This was the highlight of our trip - Everyone was amazing! We got there very early because it was so hot outside and they let us sit and wait. They had a lot of cool stuff in their shop too. There is a large selection of beautiful kimono to choose from. And they took so many pictures of us. We really enjoyed watching the tea ceremony and then being able to practice it. And they were very patient with us as we practiced our calligraphy skills. Everyone agreed afterwards that this was the highlight of our trip. The only downside was that they share the pictures they took through Instagram which I think is not an issue for most people, but my group didn't have it so I had to download the app to get the pictures. But the people, service and experience were a 10/10

A great Japanese experience - Loved being dressed in a kimono we had lots of pictures taken during the entire tour. Making tea was interesting and trying to write a few symbols in Japanese was a lot harder than it looked. Our efforts on wooden spoons were beautifully wrapped for a souvenir

A beautiful tea ceremony and calligraphy experience! - Our group did the kimono, tea ceremony and calligraphy workshop and had the most wonderful experience. The people were so friendly, patient and lovely and they explained the tea ceremony and the calligraphy process really well. We booked through Klook and there were no issues, it all worked seamlessly. We had a wonderful time and it was worth coming to Miyajima to experience this!

Absolutely recommended! - This is highly recommended! We were received and treated super friendly, and you are taken step by step through every part of the experience. A nice insight into the rich culture that Japan has and you can also ask plenty of questions about the ceremony. And there is no shortage of photos, because plenty of time is made available for a photo opportunity. Plus afterwards you will also receive the photos they take. Wouldn't have wanted to miss this, really great :)
