- Daishoin Temple - Daishō-in, also known as Daisyō-in, is a historic temple complex featuring numerous temples and statues on Mount Misen, the sacred mountain on Itsukushima island, near Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima, Japan. It is the 14th temple in the Chūgoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage and is renowned for its maple trees and their vibrant autumn colors.
- Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street - This bustling area is filled with souvenir shops and snack stalls, leading up to the famous Itsukushima Shrine.
- Itsukushima Shrine - Miyajima (宮島) is a small island located less than an hour from Hiroshima city, best known for its large torii gate that appears to float on the water during high tide. This view is considered one of Japan’s top three scenic sights.
Officially named Itsukushima, the island is more commonly called Miyajima, meaning “shrine island” in Japanese, due to its strong association with Itsukushima Shrine. Similar to the torii gate, the main buildings of the shrine are constructed over water.
Miyajima is a romantic destination, best experienced by staying overnight at one of the island’s ryokan. While the island is often crowded with day tourists, it becomes much quieter and more serene in the evening. The island is also home to wild deer that are accustomed to human presence. During the day, the deer roam the same areas as tourists, and at night, they rest along the walking paths.
- Tenshinkaku - Tenshinkaku (天心閣) is a traditional Japanese house-turned-café located on a hill in Miyajima. It offers stunning views of Toyokuni Shrine, the five-story pagoda, and the Seto Inland Sea.
