Highlights
  • Hafnargata 2 - Enjoy a whale watching tour from the small fishing village of the west side of Eyjafjordur. Depart at your chosen time from the meeting point in this picturesque town and you will be taken into the midst of the whale populations and rich sea life characteristics of the area. Whether the whales have ventured deep into the fjord or are staying closer to Hrisey, they are always just a short trip away from Hauganes. Most common species include humpback whales, minke whales, harbour porpoises, white beaked dolphins and with a little luck blue whales and orcas (killer whales).

Your captain, a professional fisherman during the winter, will keep you in good hands during the summer whale watching season.

Wonderful! - Wonderful tour! We saw tons of whales! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. After the tour we had lunch at the cafe. Save your whale boarding receipt for a 10 percent discount! After dinner, we soaked in the hot tubs by the ocean. It is a 2 minute walk down a path.

Top Walwatching - Family business. Spontaneous booking, good advice. Since Hauganes is located in the middle of the fjord, short drive to the whale sightings. Security is taken seriously.. We have seen whales and received a lot of interesting information about the animals.

Very nice experience - Júlía has made the trip very interesting, telling us a lot of facts about whales and how they live. She and the two other team members were also very kind to answer any questions I had sharing their knowledge. We have been lucky to find two whales outside Akureyri but that's not something you can predict. I recommend this experience with them

Cool and emotional encounter with stunning whales - Amazing experience on an ancient wooden boat. We had a beautiful weather and a wonderful experience. Above all Julia our guide was so cool. she ptovided loads of very interesting information about the whales. The trip was so quiet. Julia was speaking with such a soft and peaceful voice . All was done to be respectful with the animals and that was so emotional. We highly recommend this tour.

Nice ! - What you read in the reviews is true. We had nice lady Julia as a guide and Johannes as skipper, who manoeuvred the boat very close to a cliff to see sea birds. We were lucky to see hunchbacks from very nearby. We had to wait nearly half an hour on the deck - another group that came by bus arrived later. Strange they didn’t know their time of arrival.
