Amazing experience - It was an amazing experience. We spent some time at the hauganes black sand beach and then joined the whale watching tour. Just few minutes after our ride started we saw multiple whales. Travelling in November I wasn’t sure if whales would still be there but the whales were very kind to us. There was hot chocolate and cinnamon biscuit which were also very good for the winter and to add to everything the weather cooperated and we had very calm water.

Amazing whales, amazing crew! - We were initially supposed to go whale watching in Husavik with Gentle Giants, but due to bad weather and insufficient time in the area, they referred us to Hauganes Whale Watching instead. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as we were treated to a wonderful experience with them! Saw a pod of three humpback whales, while out in the fjord, and it wasn’t just a fleeting sighting, they surfaced 4-5 times, and came as close to 10-20 meters to the boat to give us all some great photo/video opportunities! The boat crew was super informative and entertaining, and despite the sub-zero temperatures and chilling winds out at sea, they were able to expertly navigate us to where the whales were, while providing us many whale fun facts as well! Hot chocolate/coffee and cookies served on board was also a great reprieve from the cold. After returning back to the harbour, we were super cold (we are from the tropics and aren’t used to this kind of temperatures and wind), the front desk staff (Soffia), offered us hot water and heat packs to help us defrost! Really appreciated the sweet gesture. Overall, would highly recommend making a trip to Hauganes to whale watch with the amazing crew!

Incredible Whale Watching Experience! - We booked the Hauganes whale watching tour on a recommendation from our Airbnb host and we are so glad we did! We had lunch at the fantastic little restaurant, Baccala Bar, then walked right down to the dock. The views are stunning! Warm coveralls are provided, but dress warm. We saw tons of whales! Took over 200 hundred pictures and videos. The Captain and Guide did an incredible job! About midway through, hot cocoa, coffee, and a small treat was provided. Excellent experience for our first time whale watching. Highly recommend!

Fabulous whale watching experience! - I genuinely wasn’t expecting it to be this good! The tour guide was great, and very clear and informative. We saw whales VERY close up. Sometimes one on its own, sometime a pair or three together. It was amazing. I’m so glad we chose a tour with a large boat as it felt very safe and comfortable on board, compared to the look of the dinghy tours. Highly recommended !!

Special encounter - It was an incredible experience. The boat team was very considerate and you could feel the connection with the animals. We've seen so many humpbacks and we could almost claw them. In bright sunshine it was a very special encounter.

So many whales! - You never know what will happen when you go whale watching. Maybe you see one or two - maybe you get lucky like we did and see more whales than you can ever imagine. It was crazy! We saw them solo and we saw them in groups of 3, 4, and 5. We also got some great homemade cookies and hot chocolate. Fabulous experience and plenty warm in the suits they gave us to wear.

A wonderfully authentic and professional trip. The magnificent oak boats are beautiful. - Our tour guide in the south told us that the best whale watching in Iceland is out of Hauganes. She was not wrong. Hauganes Whale Watching is a family run company based in the quaint harbor town of Hauganes. The experience is authentic and the staff and crew are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We got up close to several humpback whales due to the skill of Captain Gardar and Julia, our knowledgeable guide, shared fascinating information about the whales throughout the tour. We loved every minute and the homemade cookies and hot chocolate were a welcome touch too. We would thoroughly recommend this trip for all ages. This will be a highlight of your vacation for sure.

Whale watching - Great experience! We saw several humpback whales and they were very close to the ship! We had beautiful weather and a calm sea;). After 1.5 hours we had hot chocolate and cookies. Unfortunately it had far too little (or the group was just too big). When we went from the upper deck to the lower deck, everything was already gone. What a shame! Besides, I would have hoped for some info about whales on the drive out of the fjord, but it remained quiet for over 40 minutes until we finally headed for a whale. Additional information: We booked the excursion 2 months in advance. At this point, there was only one tour per day. When I looked at the homepage a few days earlier, there were two tours, one at 09:30 and one at 13:30. Our ship was well filled and when everyone walked on the same side of the ship, you got into a skewed position (but you don't have to worry). Besides, you have to put on a suit on site.
