Trolltunga Hike - highly recommend - Booked this excursion whilst on a P&O cruise. Was slightly worried about booking as I had not seen this company mentioned a lot in my research and wanted to be sure we arrived back in time at the end of the day. Was very reassured at booking and on the day felt in safe hands from the outset unlike an earlier experience in the week. We had v comfortable transportation to and from the hike in a mini bus, we all enjoyed our lunch and the views from Trolltunga were simply stunning - would highly recommend! Our guide Ernst was very informative and related well to all the ages in our party

Incredible Views! - Absolutely outstanding guides and hike. Note the hike is not long but it is very steep up a gravel path. We did not bring our 4yo or 7yo and that was the right decision given how steep the trail was. Though kids slightly older made it up at a slower pace, as did some very in shape elderly people with walking poles they brought with them. The views and pictures from the top are unrivaled. We were very lucky to have clear views for about 45 minutes at the top before a storm rolled in and completely blocked the view and rained on us all the way down—but we’ve discovered that’s just the weather in this area—can change fast but if you’re lucky enough to have a clear day at the top—this tour shouldn’t be missed.

Excellent day away from the crowds - Our cruise stopped in Haugesund and we booked this small group tour to get away from the crowds. When we stepped off the cruise ship, the Viking Adventures hut was right by the exit of the ship, we checked in and pointed in the direction of our waiting guide, Matheus. There was only one over couple who had booked this tour, so it really was a small group and therefore became a really exclusive and personal experience. The drive to the start of the hike was around 50 minutes and Matheus kept us entertained by his superb knowledge of local culture, history, geography, geology and any other subject we thought to speak about. We stopped off at a local shop to collect our packed lunch and then drove to the start of the hike to Himakana. The hike is not technical as it is a gravel path all the way, though is steep in places. The views and the experience when we reached the top were simply stunning. Unlike a previous walk to Pulpit Rock, there are not crowds of people here, just the small group that we were with. It was a peaceful and serene experience and we were able to soak in the stunning views and eat our lovely packed lunch. Matheus gave us as much time as we needed whilst being conscious of the need to get us back to the cruise ship on time. As there was such a small group, we had time after the hike for him to show us briefly some other sights of Haugesund such as the National Monument. All in all, this was an absolutely brilliant day and we got to experience a genuine slice of the area, away from the crowds. Matheus was absolutely brilliant, was so knowledgeable about the area and really wanted to showcase is home town. A highly recommended trip.

Standing on top of the world - This was an epic adventure! Our whole family loved this experience. The guides were professional, friendly and very helpful. They split the group of about 25 people into a faster group and a slower group, with a guide for each. Everyone made it to the top, including two people who had never hiked. I would definitely recommend this hike.

Wonderful hike to Himakana with Viking Adventures in Haugesund - We booked this tour as we disembarked our ship, as our tour had been cancelled by Princess! We were so pleased we did! We were taken by minibus (so much nicer than a 40 seater coach as on so many tours!) on a one hour drive through beautiful countryside to the path where our hike started, stopping first to pick up the picnic lunch provided by Viking, (a sandwich and bar of chocolate, with a bottle of water.) Our guides and bus drivers were absolutely charming and so helpful. The hike has two very steep sections, which can be slippery as they are made with chipped "blue metal" stones. We are both very fit and were able to hike at our own pace, and those who preferred a gentler walk, could take their time, as we climbed around 330metres in a short time frame on a 2.2 km hike to the top. We were lucky the weather was fantastic with clear, blue skies, and the views at the top, once we reached Himakana, were simply breathless. We enjoyed our picnic lunch at the top, and half an hour later started the hike down. I would like to compliment both guides, Vidar and Ern (his nickname as none of us could remember his real name!) who both looked after us so well. We were so pleased our other tour had been cancelled and we would really recommend Viking Adventures on this tour.

Standing on top of the world! - This hike was worth the sweat equity. The trail is rather steep in parts and has multiple switch-backs. Our guide supplied a bottle of authentic Norwegian water - very refreshing, and a surprisingly delicious double decker sandwich, The layers were separated by wax paper, so the sandwich stayed fresh til you reach the summit. I also got to try the Norwegian cheese they are so proud of. It's got a distinctive taste that added another dimension to the sandwich. Of course, you could always pull it off if you don't like it since there's still Swiss cheese on it. They also include their version of a Kit Kat bar. Our guides made sure to stop along the way to give people a break when needed, and then you are standing on top of the world!

Highly recommend - Himakana hiking tour. - Viking Adventure cabin directly on the dock, no messing around trying to find it amongst the 1000s of cruise passengers. Our Guides were Darren & Kristian, Both very informative, friendly and helpful gentlemen. The private new Mercedes minivan picked us up from the dock and took us on a beautiful scenic drive around 1hr inland. We was given 10 minutes to visit the bathroom and local shop. Upon boarding the bus we was given a light lunch - gluten free is catered for! We was then driven a few minutes to the foot of the mountain/ Fjord. I do want to say, you need to be relatively athletic.. VERY VERY STEEP. Proper hiking footwear and clothing will be needed. You will be exposed to the elements as the trail is open - in our case was had glorious sunshine but now sun burnt.. We was a group of 10, Darren & kristian did there best to cater for all abilities and nobody felt like they were holding the group up. The view itself is breathtaking and makes the hike up all worth the blisters and sun burn we have. We was given 20-25 minutes at the top before the decent back to the minivan. As we started to get close to the port, we was given the option of being dropped off in the town or straight back to the ship. I would tell any of my family or friends to use this company and would undoubtedly again if I was to visit Haugesund. Thank you so much Darren and Kristian!

I proposed to her, she said yes ! - Trolltunga Marine and Alexander I proposed to her, she said yes ! The Trolltunga (literally the "the tongue of the troll") is a spectacular rock formation 700 meters above the ground, overlooking lake Ringedalsvatnet, in the Skjeggedal region in Norway. We got to this site with my wife and it was a very long hike. But after a 14, kilometer walk, whilst it is too tiring to climb the cliff, there are plenty of features to see. Once you're at the top of the site, though, the view is worth it. WOW, what a sight to see ! If you want to enjoy the hike, you have to avoid tourists. So don't do the hike during the summer period if you'd rather enjoy it alone. It would be a challenge for any old person or anyone who is overweight cause even if I'm athletic, the hike was hard, with loose rocks and mud. So you have to prepare yourself physically and mentally. In conclusion, the hike is not for the faint of heart ! You can camp on the cliff's summit if you so desire but be careful !! On September 5th 2015, a 24 year old Australian woman fell to her death off Trolltunga. It is believed to be the first recorded death from the fall there. And what's more, there's no safety barrier. Why ? To preserve the site's beauty. It is SO dangerous and reckless ! The view from the cliff overlooking the lake of Ringedalsvatnet is spectacular and I think better than the vantage point of the terra firma. It is beautiful and you will be on a different planet! THAT'S UNBELIEVABLE !
