Highlights
  • Anahulu Cave - The Underground Swimming Pool - Our Accredited Guide will accompany into the cave. Million Years of Rock Formation are evident in the Cave with a fresh water pool at the end ideal for refreshing swim as a highlight of the tour.
  • Royal Tombs - MalaÊ»ekula or the Royal Tombs is situated in central NukuÊ»alofa in the Kingdom of Tonga . The Kings of Tonga and their very close relatives (wives, husbands, children) are buried there. Those who are a little farther away from the mainline (cousins, nephews, nieces, inlaws) are buried elsewhere, in other chiefly cemeteries. Kings from older times, (i.e. the TuÊ»i Tonga dynasty), are mostly buried in the langi in MuÊ»a.

The main royal tombs are located at the Mala’ekula site, which includes the tombs of the first five kings of Tonga: King George Tupou I, King George Tupou II, Queen Salote III , King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV and King George V . Each tomb is adorned with traditional Tongan designs and symbols and is surrounded by a beautifully lawn.

  • Teta Tours and Travel Ltd - This is our humble office we have been operating since 1967 and still going strong because of our Lord’s Guidance .

  • Captain Cook’s Landing Place - In the year 1777 Captain Cook visited and came ashore to visit Pau the Tui Tonga (the Sacred King of Tonga) on the occasion of ‘Inasi ‘ (presentation of the first fruits)

  • Ha’amonga’a Maui Trilithon - Is a Stonehenge / Trilithon located in the Eastern Region of Tongatapu in the Village of Niutoua . It was built in the 13th Century by the Tui Tonga ( Sacred King Of Tonga ) Tuitatui in the honor of his 2 children

  • Ancient Royal Tombs of Lapaha - Large square thing or rectangular earthen burial mounds of the Tui Tonga Dynasty. The Langi has terraced sides faced with slabs of cut limestones. According to tradition , Langi were the burial places of the Tongan ruling class

  • Royal Palace - The Royal Palace, made of kauri wood and located in the heart of NukuÊ»alofa, was built in 1864 for King George Tupou I. It remains the residence of the royal family.

  • Anahulu Beach - A beautiful beach tucked away from all the noise of city life . You will be one of the few guests on this beach. We are suggesting bringing your own snorkeling gear to enjoy this Private Like Beach Away From Home. Anahulu Beach is only 40 meters away from the famous Anahulu Cave

  • Makatolo a Maui - Basically these are Maui’s Giantic Throwing Boulders / Stones close to Anahulu Cave @ Haveluliku Village

Legend says Maui was annoyed with the Ancient Moa - Giantic Chickens waking him up in the morning that he threw these huge boulders at them to keep them quiet

Basically the Eastern Side of Tonga is where all the historical sites are located

  • Niutoua - Maka Fa’akinanga: The Maka Fa’akinanga (Leaning against the rock) is located approximately 100m from the Ha’amonga ‘a Maui. Made from the same stone as the Ha’amonga, the Maka Fa’akinanga is a large stone slab standing upright with markings on the front resembling an indentation of a large head, shoulders and back. Oral stories recount the belief that Tu’i Tu’itatui (eleventh Tu’i Tonga) often sat against the Maka Fa’akinanga and struck out with a staff at people so that they were kept at a safe distance for fear that they may make an assassination attempt.

East Coast with Teta Tours was PURE MAGIC!!!!!!!! - My Teta Tours guides, Tapu & Dave (the driver) arrived early and patiently waited for me to check out of my hotel. Their enthusiasm and professional attitudes were evident from the start and they even asked me if I needed anything from the city centre (so they could drive me there) before we drove to the east coast! Talk about fantastic customer service!! A+! Tapu's excellent knowledge of Tongan history was superb and her story-telling about Tongan folklore had me captivated! She answered my many questions and took the time to explain the significance of all the beautiful landmarks we visited. Dave was great too - very kind, patient and drove safely and made sure we could get as close as possible for easier access. He was even kind enough to make a quick non-scheduled stop when I asked him so I could take photos of a stunning beach! I honestly didn't want this tour to end - the Tongan East coast was absolutely stunning, a true paradise with so many interesting people & places to see. And Tapu and Dave made this experience so much more memorable & wonderful. I recommend this tour + company whole-heartedly and I can't wait to come back already!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caves were awesome - The caves alone were worth the trip. The guide and driver were nice but not overly knowledgeable on the history and communication was a little difficult. But overall worth the money.

Beautiful Tonga - Well organised and pick up from the cruise ship was easy. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly but didn’t spend enough time pointing out local sights whilst travelling in the bus. The stops we went to were very interesting and overall the trip was great value for money.
