Awesome experience! - What an awesome way to spend some time! Joel was our host and was an excellent guide. We all got a long real well. Our kind of people. He's got a pretty cool family business going here and you don't get dusty like you would on a four wheeler.
The truck is super comfortable and unique.
We were thrilled that shortly after we rolled into the lake there was big moose crossing right in front of us. Super cool.Having the drone come and get our picture was really cool also.
Joel, thank you so much for your hospitality and camaraderie. This was a great time and well worth it both from the money and time standpoint.
When we get back to Alaska we will see you and do this again!
Thank you

An Excellent Experience 👍 - From the reservation to the end of the tour, the attentions, and sence of safety, while explaining the route and all the scenarios, gives a solid sence of knowledge.
Joel was an excellent tour guide and host.
Thanks Joel!!! 😁

Nothing Else Like It! - If you are ever visiting Fairbanks, or any other town along highway 3 down to Anchorage, you need to add Denali Fat Truck Tours to your itinerary! My wife and I had the opportunity to enjoy a unique personal tour from Joel, the proprietor of Denali Fat Truck Tours. He was a phenomenal guide to the geography, fauna, and flora of Denali and the surrounding communities.
We started our day down in Healy where we were staying and incidentally where the tours are based out of. He took us to the Denali National Park visitor’s center where we met a few of the nicest park Rangers we have ever encountered; they put on a quick movie of the Northern Lights at his polite request. After a bit of souvenir shopping, we headed back into town where he took us to lunch in one of the two spots open during the winter: Totem Café and Pub. We chowed down on some delicious burgers and side then made our way to the tour’s main attraction: the SHERP UTV’s. At the time of writing, they have two in operation year-round and plan on expanding! They appeared as capable as the pictures made them out to be (and probably more). After initial warmup and pre-tour checks, we were ready to tread the frozen paths.
The focus of the tour was on exploration and learning from the safety of one of the most capable search and rescue vehicles on Earth. You will be hard pressed to find any other tours with guides as amiable and knowledgeable as Joel and his family! Along the beaten path we were fortunate to encounter a female moose and learn about their unique biology (ask him about how they survive the tough landscape of Alaska). There were numerous photo opportunities for us, we even had the chance to step out onto Otto Lake, a truly novel experience!
There is not enough space in the review box to talk about how wonderful Joel made our visit. We will be back in the Summertime for a completely different look at the Alaskan wilderness with Joel and his crew. Do not pass up on this tour team!

Take this tour. Trust me. - This is an amazing tour. Tim and Joel are incredible guides. This is a family business run by two brothers, and they are very kind and knowledgeable of the area and Alaska history. The Sherp vehicle is definitely the way to experience Alaska’s terrain. It’s a large vehicle, but very easy to get in and out of and is comfortable inside. It was interesting to be in the same area as described in the book “Into the Wild”. In addition to the beautiful scenery, Tim and Joel share entertaining stories and facts about the area. Joel is an Alaska State Trooper and safety is paramount. They also bring along a drone and take videos from above to share with tour guests. I recommend this to anyone visiting Alaska. Overall, it’s a great experience and a fun adventure.

Best tour in Healy. - This tour was a pleasant surprise and a really fun adventure. The trucks can handle any terrain without damaging it. ….even rivers. Although we saw no wildlife, every effort was made to find some with the aid of a drone. We even got educated in a glacial valley on the various stones and rock formations there.

Amazing Excursion! - Fantastic tour! Truly a once in a lifetime way to experience Alaska. Our tour guide, Tim, was super friendly and knowledgeable and made the tour so memorable. When he spotted 2 moose pretty far away, he used his drone to video them, then sent us all the clips - so special! We even got to take the amphibious Sherp through a frozen creek and across 25 ft deep lake! If you are considering this excursion, do it. You will love every minute.
