Cairo and the Pyramids, Overnight Train to Luxor

Cairo - Pick-up from your hotel in Cairo. Travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The Pyramid of Khufu, the first and largest pyramid of King Khufu.

Khafre’s Pyramid - The Pyramid of Khafre, attributed to King Khafre, son of King Khufu.

Menkaure Pyramid - The Pyramid of Menkaure, the third and smallest pyramid of King Menkaure, son of King Khafre and grandson of King Khufu.

Great Sphinx - The Sphinx, with its lion’s body and Pharaoh’s head.

Arrival in Luxor

Luxor Temple - Luxor Temple, meaning “palaces” in Arabic, is a New Kingdom temple used for daily religious rituals dedicated to the god Amun.

Temple of Karnak - Karnak Temple, a large complex with a main temple dedicated to Amun and smaller temples for various gods, used for daily religious practices.

Visit to the West Bank of Luxor, Overnight Train to Cairo

Valley of the Kings - The Valley of the Kings, chosen by New Kingdom pharaohs for their tombs, away from the Nile’s floods.

Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - The Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most significant funerary temples on the western bank, built by the only queen to rule alone for 21 years.

Colossi of Memnon - The Colossi of Memnon, two seated statues of Amenhotep III (1390 - 1352 BC) carved from quartzite sandstone, located at the eastern end of his mortuary temple site in western Thebes.

Arrival in Cairo: Visit The Egyptian Museum, the Citadel, and the Coptic Quarter

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - The Egyptian Museum, constructed in 1897 and opened in 1901, features two floors of exhibits.

Coptic Cairo - The Coptic Quarter, home to several ancient churches like St. Sergius and the Hanging Church, built in the 3rd and 4th centuries A.D.

Cairo Citadel - The Citadel, with its oldest part built by Salah El Din, expanded over several historical periods, known for its antiquity and grandeur, and served as a headquarters.

Khan Al-Khalili - Khan El Khalili, a vibrant bazaar where visitors can experience Bedouin customs and capture memorable photos. Day trips to Cairo and visits to Egypt often include this bazaar.

Transfer and Visit to Alexandria

Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - A blend of Egyptian art with Hellenistic-Roman style, dating to the late 1st and early 2nd centuries.

Pompey’s Pillar - Named during the Arab era, it commemorates Emperor Diocletian from the 3rd century.

Fort Qaitbey - Built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse in the late 15th century, it houses a small naval museum and offers panoramic views from its walls.
