Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Egyptian Museum
Pyramids of Giza - In the morning, following breakfast, join your private professional Egyptologist tour guide to explore the Three Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Great Sphinx - Visit the most renowned monuments of ancient Egypt and the entire ancient world!
Egyptian Museum - In the afternoon, you will visit the Egyptian Museum, showcasing a rare collection of 5000 years of art. Over 250,000 genuine ancient Egyptian artifacts are on display.
Drive to Alexandria, visit the Catacombs, Roman Amphitheatre, Pompey’s Pillar, Qaitbay Citadel, back to Cairo
Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - Begin the day with breakfast at your hotel, followed by a drive in your private air-conditioned vehicle to Alexandria, “The Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea” (approximately a 3-hour drive). Your visit to this stunning city, originally established by Alexander the Great, includes a tour of The Catacombs (Kom el Shoqafa), where early Christians were interred.
Ancient Roman Amphitheater - Explore the Roman Amphitheatre, a feature present in every town of the ancient Roman Empire.
Pompey’s Pillar - Visit Pompey’s Pillar, the largest memorial column in Egypt, crafted from red granite and standing about 28 meters high, with a base diameter of 2.7 meters.
Alexandria - Discover the Citadel of Qaitbay, where around 1480 AD, the Mameluke Sultan Al-Ashraf Qaitbay fortified the site, which once held the ruins of the Alexandria Lighthouse. With successive enhancements, it now stands as a prominent citadel on the Mediterranean coastline.
At the end of the day, you will return to Cairo.
Flight to Aswan, Check in at 5-star Nile Cruise: Aswan (High Dam, Philae Temple)
Aswan High Dam - After breakfast, check out of the hotel, and our representative will accompany you to the airport for your flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and assisted by our representative, who will transfer you to your cruise boat, your floating hotel for the next three nights.
You will be driven to see The High Dam, the world’s largest rock-filled dam.
Temple of Philae - Visit the Temple of Philae, relocated to the new island of Agilika after the waters of Lake Nasser submerged its original site on Philae.
Nile Cruise: Kom Ombo & Edfu Temples
Temple of Kom Ombo - After breakfast, sail to Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to the gods Horus and Sobek.
Temple of Horus - After the visit, return to the boat for lunch as it sails onward to Edfu, home to the best-preserved temple in Egypt: The Temple of Edfu or Temple of Horus, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved temples in Egypt. Its origins likely date back to the Second Intermediate Period, but the actual temple only dates back to Ptolemaic times. Construction began during the reign of Ptolemy III (around 237 BC) and was completed during the reign of Ptolemy IV. Additional contributions were made by other Ptolemaic Kings and the Roman Emperor Augustus. The temple’s construction, along with its additions, inscriptions, and reliefs, took about 180 years!
Afterward, return to the cruise for dinner as it sails to Luxor.
Nile Cruise: Luxor (Westbank: Kings Valley, Hatshepsut Temple, Memnon Colossi)
Valley of The Kings - After your first breakfast on board, visit the West Bank of Luxor:
The tombs of the New Kingdom Pharaohs are located in the Valley of the Kings, an extraordinary site where 62 Pharaohs are buried. This was a secret location, guarded by sentries at the entrance and on the hilltops to deter tomb robbers.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Visit the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El-Bahri, one of the most distinctive temples in all of Egypt. It was constructed from limestone, unlike most other funerary temples of the New Kingdom period, which were built from sandstone.
Colossi of Memnon - The Colossi of Memnon, two colossal statues of Amenhotep III, originally stood in front of his mortuary temple, which seems to have been destroyed for unknown reasons. Each colossus is about 21 meters tall and represents King Amenhotep III seated on his throne.
After this visit to the Theban “City of the Dead,” return to your boat for lunch and relaxation onboard.
Check out from Nile Cruise: Luxor (Eastbank: Karnak & Luxor Temples) - Flight to Cairo
Temple of Karnak - Enjoy your final breakfast on the boat before checking out, then travel with your Egyptologist tour guide to visit the magnificent Karnak Temple, which was, at its peak, the largest and most important religious complex in ancient Egypt. The most significant structure, and the largest religious building ever constructed, is the Temple of Amun-Ra, believed to be where that god resided on earth with his wife, Mut, and son, Khonsu, who also have temples at the site.
Luxor Temple - Then proceed to Luxor Temples, which were not built in worship of a god or a god figure of the kings and pharaohs, but were dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship. Many kings may have had their coronation at the Temple of Luxor, whether crowned in reality or conceptually, as in the case of Alexander the Great, who claimed he was crowned at Luxor, although evidence suggests he never traveled south of Memphis, now considered the modern city of Cairo.
After the day tour concludes, you will be escorted to Luxor airport to catch your flight to Cairo.
