Smooth transfer to extremely interesting island - FRS Finland Oy operates the ferry or the waterbus from Helsinki Market Square (Kauppatori, the pier is called Keisarinluodonlaituri) to Vallisaari Island. It takes about 25 minutes. In July and August they operate every day (once in an hour) and in September on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A round-trip ticket for adults costs 13.90 euros. You can buy tickets from the ticket office (a small kiosk) next to the pier. Notice that in Vallisaari the arrival is at Luotsipiha Pier (Pilotyard Jetty) but the departure is from Torpedolahti Pier (Torpedo Bay Jetty). You can hop on any return transport. Usually free seats are always available (only the time of Helsinki Biennial may be an exception, next time in 2025). So you don't need to know your return time in advance. Take your time in Vallisaari. There is very much to see and do there: historical sights, beautiful nature, sightseeing platforms with wonderful sea views, a picnic ground and excellent cafeterias. Read separate Tripadvisor reviews about Vallisaari for more information. And by the way, I appreciate that FRS Finland Oy has been awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland certificate and they are committed to developing sustainable tourism.

Nice trip on the water - Great little day trip. One of the islands is closed on Sundays, so we missed it. We only had energy for one island. There is a market place by the departure point for the water taxi. Great activity during nice weather. Not sure how I would feel if it were raining.

A must do trip - Loved this Island you could spend hours here. The museum entry was just 8 euros and that covered 3 museums including the submarine. The boat trip out and back is lovely great views and relaxing after lots of walking. The boats are big so normally have room and run every 30 minutes

History brought alive, great sites! - Great tour, well worth doing on a Helsinki visit! Ideally cover all three islands as each has it’s unique charm and history.

Beautiful - We actually only got to explore one of the 3 islands, however, it was a beautiful nature walk and that one island was worth the $.

Not best pleased - Unfortunately never got to Vallisaari Island but instead ended up on Suomenlinna. Went to designated ferry terminal (with red flags and signage for Vallisaari) at correct departure time. Had tickets checked by ferry staff when boarding and set off. Upon arrival at Suomenlinna was told the ferry did not go to Vallisaari!
