Welcome to ZEUS - Tour organized with Kati local guide who speaks English and French, the bus picks us up at the hotel, direction the Lassithi plateau and the caves of the gods of the gods of Greek mythology ZEUS, where according to legend Grandma REA went to give birth to save him from the terrible fate of his father the titan CRONOS. With this tour Kati makes us discover the myths and legends of Crete but also the history and cultures of this magnificent islands. First stop in one of the oldest Orthodox monasteries in Crete run by nuns who have been several times throughout history in the hands of various armies such as the Otoments in particular, then direction the caves of Zeus where we arrive at the foot of the 2nd most at the top from the island, to access the caves you have to undertake a 15-minute walk, affordable for everyone but good shoes are required, once at the top 120 steps take us into these magnificent limestone caves, then for the descent great little restaurant and bar waiting for you with tasty homemade fruit juices with the fruit of the rangions their specialty. Then head to visit one of the oldest handmade pottery workshops, Giorgios and his wife welcome us into their workshop where he explains his work and the history of his workshop passed down from father to son where Giorgios makes all the pottery and his wife bread and desires everything, you can even make your little pottery with Giorgios., then head to the tasty Greek tavern Kouriles for lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant where I also wrote a review.

Wonderful tour with exceptional customer service - We booked the tour on a date which was available due to an error in their system, even if it shouldn't have been. The normal response of companies is to cancel the booking and write and apology. This company (and primarily the wonderful guide Viola) however sincerely apologized and gave us a private tour for the same price! We were delighted, and the whole tour was great! The guide was really knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions in great detail. She asked us if we wanted to personalize the tour slightly to our wishes, which we agreed to and were able to experience Cretan culture more closely. We had the feeling that the tour was given by a friend and not by someone who just wanted the money, which was great and is quite rare today. I would say this was our favourite tour by far and there is nothing we would want to change even slightly.

Zeus Caves and Knossos - First and foremost a big thank you to Roxani, our guide. You really know your stuff and made Minoan history come alive. Practical stuff, the walk to the Diktaion Cave is a little steep, hats off to the ladies doing it in sandals and flip-flops! A long day, but if like us, you are only here for seven days, you get to see some amazing historical sites and the tour is great value for money. Thank you again Roxani xx

Mixed Feelings - We booked the excursion Lasithi - Knossos through our hotel on the basis that the tour included a trip to the Caves of Zeus as indicated on the flyer and the deposit receipt we received. From our pick up to the final pick up in the morning took two hours. After an unscheduled toilet stop on the pick up route one member of the party was left behind as no one checked everyone was back. During the introduction from the guides (2 hours into the trip) no mention was made of the Caves. When questioned at the monastery stop we were informed that the Caves were closed from September 1st for a year. The guides we had were informative, the driver was seemingly always in a rush. We have mixed feelings about the day. We saw lots of Crete, but not the part we particularly wanted to see - we do feel we should have been informed on booking that the caves were closed - customer service is about managing expectations. The stop at Knossos was a highlight and recommended

Windmills?????? - We thought we would see a lot of windmills. A lot of scrap without blades. Route around the plateau was not well marked.
