Beautiful beach, and a worthwhile day trip - We loved our day at Elafonisi Beach. It wasn't too busy when we went in October - especially when we first arrived so we could have a stroll along the beach and a swim without the crowds. We were able to get a sunbed (costs €20 for two beds and an umbrella - but worth it as there was very little shade without this option). The journey itself was long from Heraklion (about 3.5 hours each way, with a toilet/drink stop each way) but impossible to get to without a tour or a hire car. Absolutely worth the journey, though. The scenery on the way to beach was beautiful - and the beach itself was stunning. Everything was very well organised - so we could just switch off and enjoy the day.

Must see beach - The guide Elizabeth was fab! The coach was comfortable and the driver good. That beach is to die for! So clear and calm. The mountain towns were picture perfect

One of the best beaches in Greece, go! - Trip was well organized, the tour guides were chill and explained everything well. They did their job. Plenty of time to enjoy the beach and have a full meal at one of the tavernas by the parking lot. Although it was a long drive, it was so worth it! Especially the drive through the gorge at the end, scary! You have to do a small hike from the parking lot to the beach through a gravel road and some rocky side trails. Wear appropriate shoes. Elafonisi beach was gorgeous, I couldn't stop swimming. I'm glad I went. Everyone here had big smiles on their faces. If you want less crowds, you'll either have to walk away from the sun beds area along the shore or walk across the lagoon to the island where there's beaches over there. I didn't need to rent a sunbed for my trip. There's a snack bar on the beach along with a small changing room (free), rinse showers (free), and a restroom (€1). This beach is kid friendly since the water is shallow and there's no waves.

Unforgettable tour to Elafonissi - I wouldn't have been able to visit Elafonissi Beach from Heraklion without this tour. It brought me to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The tour guide was incredibly supportive and attentive, providing information in 4 different languages all by herself! The bus driver was very professional and kind as well. I would highly recommend this tour 110%!!

In the pink at Elafonisi - A wonderful beach day! Our excellent guide warned us that Elafonisi publicity photos don't quite show the reality of the beach, but it's lovely regardless. There's no shade so beach umbrellas and mats are needed but can be bought at the local mini market as the sunshades and loungers for hire sell out really fast.

Beautiful beach - Great beach, we had a great time in turquoise water. We did not counter see that very few places with pink sand. However, the journey was very long, we left at 6am and returned at 8pm past.

Good and bad - We started the day early with a two-hour drive from Malia, setting out before the sun was fully up. As the day progressed, the temperature soared to sweltering levels, with the heat feeling almost unbearable under the relentless sun. There was hardly any breeze, making it feel even more scorching—truly a blistering hot day! However, the real challenge came on the way back. What should have been a simple return journey ended up taking an outrageous amount of time. The drive stretched into a grueling five and a half hours, far longer than the original trip. Despite the exhausting heat and the unexpectedly long return journey, the day itself was otherwise perfect!

Beachy Blunder - The beach is amazing BUT…the tour guide was horrendous. She was horribly rude to us and others on the tour. When we got back on the bus at the end of the day, we weren’t aware that we had to sit in the same seats as the morning. When we tried to sit closer to the front of the bus, she immediately snapped at us. First, she questioned if we were even on her tour. We assured her we were and explained about preferring to sit near the front. She told us we had to get off the bus and wait for everybody else to get on. When more people got on the bus, she approached them the same way. One couple, who also spoke English, did not immediately respond when she spoke to them. She asked them, “Do you speak English, because I know I am speaking English?” She continued this way with English speaking passengers, but was friendlier with the French speaking passengers. The condition of the bus is also horrible. Our knees were pushed into the seat in front of us, the seats did not recline properly, and we made a few unscheduled stops. For the 8 hours we spent on the bus It was a horrible experience.
