Fulfill your fantasies in one of the most spectacular places on the globe! Santorini, a petite, round cluster of volcanic isles situated in the southern Aegean Sea, rests approximately 200 km southeast of the mainland of Greece. It stands as the most vibrant volcanic hub in the Aegean Arc, although today it largely resembles a caldera. The moniker Santorini was bestowed upon it by the Venetians in the 13th century, symbolizing Saint Irene. Earlier, it was known as Kallisti, Strongili or Thera. Nowadays, Santorini is the sole inhabited Caldera (volcanic cauldron) globally. Contrary to other Greek isles, the settlements densely populate the enormous cliffs of the Caldera, and from afar look like snow resting on the high mountain peaks. The uniquely hued layers of the volcanic stone of these cliffs leave an indelible impression: rich brown, rust-hued red, sunflower-yellow, lustrous white and cream.
