• Lake of Zaros Votomos - Zaros is a charming, pristine village renowned for its spring water, now bottled and distributed throughout Greece. It’s an excellent starting point for hikers to explore the stunning natural surroundings. Zaros also boasts impressive Byzantine monasteries and offers delicious farm-raised trout in local tavernas and by the emerald-green Lake Votomos, which is a must-visit.
• Spili - Spili is famous for its Venetian fountain featuring a long row of 25 stone lion heads that spout cool water from their mouths.
• Lampini - Lampini is a traditional village where you can visit the church and the museum of Panagia. The church, adorned with a cupola, showcases frescoes from the 12th and 14th centuries. It was once an Episcopal church, as the village of Lampini was home to the renowned Episcopate of Lampis, established in 431.
• St. Anthony Gorge (Gorge of Patsos) - Patsos Gorge is notable for the cavernous temple of Agios Antonios (Saint Anthony), which was a sacred cave dedicated to Kraneos Hermes in ancient times. Water flows from the rocks, and droplets from the temple roof are collected as holy water. The sight of thousands of prayer papers placed in the rock cavities around the temple is fascinating. Beneath the temple and along the river, there are large plateaus with wooden benches and tables.

We start driving to our first stop Zaros, an attractive, refreshingly unspoiled village famous for its spring water, and an ideal base for walkers to explore the beautiful nature. Zaros also has some fine Byzantine monasteries, and delicious farm-raised trout served up in tavernas around town and on emerald-green Lake Votomos which will be visited. Then we continue our drive to the traditional Cretan village of Vatos, a small village hidden in the green where we find all the elements of its tradition. We finish at a cauldron of the village where you make Raki (the famous alcoholic beverage of Crete). Spili is our next stop known for its Venetian snake with a long line of 25 stone lion heads that run cool water from their mouths. Optional lunch at Spili. Then we visit Lampini, the church and the museum of Panagia. Drive to Gorge of St. Antonios, walk through a very nice hiking trail in the gorge with super green and lush surroundings up to the cave of St. Antonios.
