Sydney to Cairns 2023 - What an amazing place. You need to devote at least a half day or more to see the entire village and do justice to your visit. Situated on 16acres, there is everything imaginable of historic significance to see here. Lots of buildings, many dedicated to a specific relic. For example the record players room, it has music playing. Same for the piano teachers room, They have exhibits that work and you will find times where to be when they start them up. For instance the stationary engines, fire engines, old cars etc. From memory, the museum was started by one man who collected from childhood and then joined by another and then lots of relics were donated and hence 16acres of it. You cross the river by two ways, bridge or causeway to more exhibits and one of the largest generators I've ever seen. They have an area where damper and billy tea is made and served but unfortunately not at the time we were there. There is a nice cafe on site to enjoy a cold drink or lunch. There is also a 1/2 hour video on the Tin Mining that was responsible for Herberton becoming a township. Very interesting. One of the best Historical Villages we've been too. Well worth the drive from Cairns.

Historic Village Herberton, a must see!! - This was one of best kept Historical places I have seen. Extremely well maintained and presented. You need a day to explore the whole area, with rest breaks in between. The staff were great and provided all the information you could ask for. Dog friendly, we were able to take our kelpie with us and she got two treats.. This is a must see, you will not be disappointed.

Best in Australia by me. - The best and most well kept historic village Ive seen anywhere. I cant imagine how much work gies into the upkeep. Blacksmith was entertaining and educational, damper and billy tea was excellent and the range and quality of displays was amazing. An excellent day out for singles, couples or a family. Travelling around Australia fir work means I see a lot of thus sort of attraction and this is the bedtime anywhere by a long way.

Don’t miss this!!! - This place is absolutely incredible! If you like artefacts, museums or history this one blows most out of the water! We had to get the return pass and come back the next day it was that incredible! (All are 3 consecutive day tickets) I have never seen such a well thought out, immersive and extensive compilation of artefacts in Australia, and so much of it is running too which is mind blowing, The cars and tractors have demonstrations every day, the blacksmith is incredible and the master woodworker Lyle is exceptionally talented and kind. This is a must see Australian attraction!!! A highlight of our trip so far!

Nostalgia for over 60s - So many recreated cottages and shops to visit! Quite well curated in part, although there's a tendency to accept all donations and 'put them somewhere'! We thinkl it might be better to cull a little, and provide more signage in shops. We went bacvk a second day, as our feet needed a rest to get around it all! Avoid the cafe: overpriced and stale food.

One of the best historic villages I’ve visited - This would have to be one of the best historic villages in Australia, and well worth another visit. A superb range of historic buildings/businesses to captivate any audience. Maybe too much to see in one go. Included in the village is an old pub where one can get a bite to eat and a refreshing beverage. A must do.

Worth a visit is you are interested in history - Plenty of artefacts dating back to the early pioneering days to the 1970s. Interesting to envisage how the pioneers survived and thrived and to see what was modern in our time (we are 80) is now regarded as being an antique! Grandchildren would be unable to comprehend how we managed without Apple
