Highlights
  • Eastnor Pottery & The Flying Potter - Potter’s wheel experience

Please allow 1.5hrs for your visit.

On arrival you’ll be offered a warm welcome from either Jon or his wife and fellow maker Sarah.

Following an easy to follow, step by step demonstration, you will share a wheel between two, having two goes each. You’ll then be offered one of three choices:

  1. The ‘green’ option. We’ll recycle your attempts so your clay can be enjoyed again and again by our lovely customers.

  2. Select your favourite pot to take away, air-dry and paint at home.

  3. For an additional 20 per pot we’ll fire and glaze your creation. If you go for option 3, your masterpiece will need to dry thoroughly before it goes in the kiln. It will be fired twice. This whole process takes about a month, after which we’ll contact you to let you know it’s ready for collection from the Pottery. P+P can be arranged at 5 per item.

What's Included
  • Clay and hand tools provided
What's Not Included
  • Please bring an apron and a hand/tea towel for drying hands at the wheel

Super fun - This was such good fun! We only did a short session but I'd love to go back for more and get some more experience on the wheel. Our hosts were very welcoming and explained how to throw a pot very clearly and well. Highly recommended.

A fantastic and great value experience - Everything about the weekend was great. Jon and Sarah are welcoming, hospitable, chilled and helpfully patient. They were great teachers, offering really detailed tuition but also they were comfortable standing back, letting us go at our (different) pace, and enabling us to explore what worked for us with the wheel and clay. They have this encouraging and delicate knack of seeing the positive, even when you know yourself your pot resembles anything but a pot! Under their guidance I know we all left feeling like we'd learned a new skill and craving more - and each with some pretty nifty masterpieces we were proud of too. The venue is idyllic, in a beautiful rural setting. I'd recommend their courses to anyone wanting to try throwing for the first time or wanting to develop their skills. I certainly am keen to return.
