The trip that just kept giving! - Great guide (thanks Mai Thieu) who helped us cycle out of Hoi An and through the rice fields to the gorgeous little villages beyond. Superb food and kindness along the way from all the people and places we stopped at - from the peanut harvesters to the rice wine distillery and the house stay lunch. A blissful kayak back to Hoi An through wide flowing rivers and hidden backwaters. A winner. The trip that just kept giving!

Beautiful countryside - This was a really nice tour with a great guide. It was wonderful to get out into the countryside. There were several stops along the way to visit local families and their family businesses. the company was great about accommodating me as a solo traveler. I ended up having a private tour. While I was nervous about traffic for the first 2 km getting out of the city, my guide kept me feeling safe during that section. The countryside was beautiful! And the kayaking through the water coconut canals was very interesting as well. I would highly recommend this company!

Fruitful experience - Apart from enjoying the beautiful scenery of rice fields and rivers through biking and kayaking, this tour offered us a unique cultural experience with the locals. We really enjoyed the rice pancakes making and rice wine tasting. Last but least, we would like to thank An, our cheerful, passionate and knowledgeable guide!

Perfect first day in Vietnam! - This was my first activity that I did in Vietnam, and it was perfect in every way. Cycling outside of Hoi An is an amazing way to get to see the Vietnamese countryside and scenery. The tour was structured in a way that we would cycle a little bit and come to a stop, which was usually a local house where we would see some aspect of local life, such as making rice crackers, reed mats, or rice wine. The kayak portion of the tour happened after lunch, which was a delicious local meal prepared by a family. The kayaking took us through the river in Hoi An and past the palm plantations. Our tour guide was excellent -- I had actually not rode a bike for 16 years and I was incredibly nervous...but he was kind and patient and helped me a lot in getting started.

Highly recommended - Brilliant day. Our tour guide was fabulous. Beautiful riding through the country side. We loved visiting homes of Vietnamese families and seeing how to make rice paper, floor mats and rice wine. Our lunch was the best food we ate in Hoi An. Lots of fun.

Great way to get out of town and enjoy the countryside - Mike and Yen led a great tour, just what I was looking for. Leisurely biking through the country side just over a bridge or two, followed by 30 or 40 minutes of kayaking. The stops were generally interesting (e.g., making and eating rice paper - bánh đập) or refreshing/nourishing (e.g., pineapple, watermelon, optional salt dipping, an iced Vietnamese coffee, and a cold hand towel hit the spot with the heat!).

What a Great Day! - Getting out of a city and seeing the countryside of Vietnam on a bicycle is an absolutely wonderful experience! We rode over tiny rice paddy bridges, down picture perfect paths in rural villages and stopped at temples and artisan workshops along the way. Our leisurely paced day was filled with breathtaking scenes, delicious food and people welcoming us wherever we went. The Grasshopper countryside bike tour and kayak adventure was certainly one of the high points of our entire Vietnam tour. Grasshopper tour guide leader Mike was patient and professional and we were appreciative of the two other guides stationed in the middle and back of our group to make sure everyone was happy and safe. When you take the short cycle through the bustling streets of Hoi An old town you will see what I mean! I was particularly happy with the bikes and how Grasshopper listened to my bike fitting needs. I asked if my handle bars could be raised and they quickly brought out an extension that gave me a comfortable and efficient position. We were also thrilled that Mike let us stop to take photographs on the tour. The sights were absolutely lovely. We loved meeting the people at our stops, and many times as we passed by homes we were greeted with English “hellos.” The lunch that was provided at a local home was fantastic. The kayaking along the Thu Bon River gave us another perspective and made us realize just how much Vietnam is a river country. All in all, this was a fun, active and rewarding tour that I would highly recommend.
