Upon your arrival, you will be served a fresh and delicious fruit juice, a typical Vietnamese fruit-based drink. While you enjoy your tasty drink, It will be the opportunity to learn about the Vietnamese countryside life and meet Grandma.
From here, we will go to my family’s home where you will begin your cooking lesson. Learn how the rice paper, used in the flavorful fried eggroll is prepared and how to prepare several typical succulent dishes of this authentic region:
-Banh Xeo (small rice flour crepes) a specialty of Hoi An.
-Grilled, marinated pork brochettes with a special sauce.
-Green papaya salad
-Fish prepared according to a local recipe.
-
Vegetarian menu on request: Banh Xeo, Eggplant grilled, Green papaya salad, Mushroom, and tofu clay pot.
Once this tasty meal has been prepared, we will enjoy the meal in my grandmother’s garden. You will also be served pumpkin soup and “Xí Mà“ a delicious dessert (black sesame pudding).
We will return to Hoi An by boat.

If you only have to do one thing in Hoi An, this is it! - This was an extremely pleasant experience. Thom is so interesting and lively, with good stories and facts all the way through the market, on the boat and between cooking.
The place is very clean and tidy, and everybody go out of their way to make it a memorable experience.
Highly recommended!

Fantastic cooking experience. - We loved this. Great set up that created an authentic home experience. The food was fantastic. Recipes provided and instructions very easy to follow. Our host, Thom, made the day very special. She was super professional and informative, but also kept us laughing with funny family stories. Highly recommend.

A memorable experience - Excellent day cooking. Thonn was a great teacher. Good fun, would highly recommend. Lovely to have a boat trip to the island home of Grandma although being 99yr we never saw her. There is a small booklet with the recipes we made.
One tip, there is so much food.. make sure you’re hungry beforehand.

Don’t miss - We have been to a few cooking classes in Vietnam during our trip, and this one was by far the best. Beautiful place, boat trip, and food we prepared was just amazing so as our chef! :)

Loved the environment and presentation of the food. - Grandma’s Kitchen was a recommendation from a colleague back home and she said it was a highlight of her trip and we agree. From start to finish Thom takes you on a family journey that reflects their love of cooking and family. Thom shows you traditional methods of food preparation and the layout and cooking stations are fantastic. As a food lover it was a wonderful experience.

Fun and flavour filled day in traditional Vietnamese location and family - The highlight of our trip so far. The family invites you to their home on an island in the delta to learn and make traditional Vietnamese food. It was a fun and flavour filled day that our whole family, including teenagers, greatly enjoyed. Seeing multiple generations working together to teach us was a pleasure.

BEST COOKING CLASS OF OUR TRIP - Best activity of our entire trip, this was so authentic, so special. Small group of 10 of us.
Thom was so spectacular with the best English we have had in a tour guide. She had so many interesting stories and facts about local living.
The food was awesome and felt very authentic.
The 4 of us went away absolutely buzzing saying how it was our favourite day of our trip so far.
