A must-see town, where you’ll want to extend your stay & explore more of the pretty streets, sights & markets. - We loved the colourful lanterns, night lights & serene boat ride down the river! The town comes alive at night & definitely worth visiting this quaint town.

Hoi An old town by night. - Excellent way to see and do best things in Hoi An.Lanterns were plentiful and reasonably priced, river cruise at night was special, placed a candle in the river for good wishes with happy boat driver who sang as well. Enjoyed the markets and bargained for many food items, fun.

A wonderful buzz of happy, colourful fun. Beautiful lights, wonderful food and happy people everywhere. - Such an extraordinarily beautiful place to visit. The people are wonderful, the local food exciting and always fresh and tasty and the markets, beaches and colourful lanterns are breath-taking. We felt extremely safe wandering around, even late at night. and it was so cheap. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and are heading back next year.

Miss USA - My family and I went to the center district of Hoi Ancient Town for shopping and enjoyed the city night. We got on a small boat floating along the river for thirty minutes at night. Hoi An ancient is absolutely beautiful. There are so many gift shops, restaurants, night clubs, street foods, massage therapy places, and clothing stores. We had an amazing time walking around Hoi An ancient at night. We took some pictures for memories. I also rode on a Xi Lo bike for a city tour.

Hoi An Ancient Town - Remarkable experience. A very ‘Instagrammable’ place. The ancient quality of this UNESCO old city makes up for a rather over-touristed character. Photos do come out remarkable though because of the city’s color palette. The are lots of fun and unique shops. Definitely be prepared to bargain. Don’t pay full price. I didn’t think I’d like the night-boat lantern tour, but I did. I didn’t think I’d go shopping, but I needed spending half my time doing so, lol. The boat ride was maybe 30 minutes for a cheap $150k VND. I’d do it again. Loads of people at night for sure. If you want a more relaxed experience, go in the morning. I don’t understand why they have entry tickets into the city…nobody gets them. And people can enter through so many locations anyway. The local police will stop you if you try to drive or ride moped into the main areas at night because it’s meant for foot traffic. Take a Grab, ride a bicycle, or walk. It’s fine. And bring water…it’s hot and humid. A great experience with great food.

Very beautiful but overrun by crowds (and commerce!) - Magnificent architectural ensemble made up of houses of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and even French origin. Some very interesting temples and old houses to visit, especially accompanied by a good guide as was the case. In the evening, the thousands of multicolored lanterns that dot the streets create a unique visual atmosphere, just like the boats on the river. The fact remains that in the evening there are a crazy crowd, mainly Vietnamese (it must be said that the end of April/beginning of May was a national holiday), that it is complicated to take even the slightest photo (you have to be very patient!) , and that the lighting - sometimes quite aggressive - of the businesses of all kinds which have invaded the slightest doorstep is considerably detrimental visually. Almost better to walk there during the day, late in the afternoon, even if there isn't the magic of the lanterns. Especially since there are fewer people. The ideal, which we unfortunately did not do, would probably also be to come and walk there early in the morning when the shops are still closed.

Pleasant for a walk and light touristy shopping - This is a well maintained old town which makes for half a day of wandering around, looking at touristy things and a couple of interesting 'museums'. It was quite hot, noisy and busy busy busy! We stopped a couple of times for a cool drink and Vietnamese coffee at the many eateries along the way.
