Additional Information

Escape the urban environment for a morning to embark on a journey through the sacred relics of My Son, an impressive series of temple structures erected by the Cham civilization across a millennium to venerate Hindu deities. Learn about this enigmatic culture with insights from your regional guide, then proceed to a traditional rice paper-making session conducted by a family in the area. Sample a just-made rice paper accompanied by a cup of java, while engaging in conversation with your hosts about the countryside lifestyle in Vietnam.

  • Children below the age of 6 are not permitted on this tour.
  • Closure of sites: Please note that the rice paper workshop is offered by a local family-run business. As such, sometimes they may close for a day without prior notice. In such a case, we’ll find an alternate but equally awesome spot to visit.
  • The tour includes pick-up at hotels within an 8km radius of Hoi An city centre, and includes resorts such as An Bang and Cua Dai Beach. If your hotel is further away than this, please make your way to the meeting point at the front entrance of the Hoi An Post Office (6 Tran Hung Dao street) for your tour departure. Please indicate that you intend to meet us at the meeting point when you fill out the booking form. Please contact us at [email protected] to see if we can create a private experience for you.
  • Please ensure your shoulders and knees are covered.
  • While we strongly recommend that all travellers are vaccinated against COVID-19 to reduce the risk of transmission and avoid putting undue strain on healthcare services, vaccinations are not a requirement to join an Intrepid Urban Adventures tour.

Great tour with Vu - The tour guide Vu was very good at explaining the tour, the history behind the ruins and was very nice. He also brought us to see an old rice house where we had to experience the local food and noodle making. Extremely happy about this tour and what we have learned from it. Recommended!

Great tour, great guide! - This morning we took the My Son tour, very small tour group of two. It is a beautiful place and definitely worth getting there before the crowd...essential to get the full experience. We had Luong as our guide and her knowledge of My Son (as well as general history) was outstanding! One of the best tour guides...if not the best... that we have had! After the My Son tour we stopped by a local village where we both tried our hand at making rice paper before demolishing them.

A glimpse into the past of a once mighty culture - We (party of two) took part in the My Son Discovery (starting in Hoi An) Tour. The early morning timing is important, as we were then ahead of the crowds, which might otherwise have diminished our good experience. Our Local UrbanAdventures Guide Nam Pham managed it really well, that we were mostly alone in the various sections of the site. This certainly added to our experience. His explanations and his background knowledge of the site was helpful for us to grasp at least a bit of the Champa culture. We also enjoyed that he was relaxed enough to go to a local Mí Gà Restaurant on the way back, as we had missed out breakfast (due to the early start) and were hungry. Thumbs up!

Best day so far! - After traveling through most of southern Vietnam, it is safe to say today was our favourite so far! Lu is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and fun to follow around. The tour pricing was quite high for the half day. After the temples we went to a local family and made some rice paper which we then tasted after. The bus was clean and tidy, our driver was also very friendly!

My Son - thoroughly recommended! - A fantastic 5 hour excursion to My Son. The journey itself is very interesting as you get to see life outside the tourist centre of Hoi An. Our guide, Nampham, brought My Son to life with over two hours viewing and describing the site. We arrived by 8.30am before the tourist hordes arrived and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Sadly you can see where the American bombs and bullets destroyed the ancient sites. Nampham made a lot of effort and helped us understand a lot more about the temples than we had read about in our guide book. Go there!

Amazing Tour with an Amazing Guide - Urban Adventures is a fantastic tour company. And try to get Luong Luong for your guide. She is the best guide we’ve ever had - funny, smart, informed, and takes charge so we had a great experience. She showed us the beautiful temples at the My Son UNESCO site. We leaned just the right amount of information (and it was accurate!) while moving through the site at the perfect pace. My Son is quite beautiful and being restored at a good pace. Many countries around the world have provided funds and experts to create a beautiful site. And the Vietnamese government provides educational staff to showcase traditional music and dance.

My Son Hindu Sanctuary - Luong was an excellent guide who provided my father and I a very enriching tour of the My Song sanctuary. Her ability to convey meaningful connections between the current population of Hoi An and the My Song area was greatly aided by her natural English capability. We had a wonderful tour through the area with all our questions promptly fulfilled. I wholeheartedly recommend booking through urban adventures to see the My Song Hindu sanctuary, especially if Luong can be your guide!
