Off the beaten track with friendly guide and good English - It was a special experience and the whole tour was outstanding. Off the beaten track. We booked at short notice and were picked up on time. Then I cycled down some alleys where once locals and also craftsmen saw during work. Arriving at a nice family we were provided with water and sweets from the market. We then went shrimp and crab hunting in the Coconut Boat. We were shown how to grow in our own garden and we were allowed to lend a hand ourselves. For Fine Dining Fans the cooking class was where we were shown how local pancakes are fried and rice paper is traditionally made. The exchange with the family and the guide was super interesting. Lots of background information. Be sure to do it if you want to escape the extreme tourism hustle and bustle and talk to locals.

Vietnam up close: Fishing and eating away from the crowds - We booked a shorter tour, which after the morning visit to My Son and departure in the evening still fit well into our program. First we took a fun boat tour in the small round boats. We fished for crabs, received a bracelet and a ring of reeds, and watched fish being caught in the conventional way with a large fishing net. Two women rowed for us, a young Vietnamese translated. After that we walked into a traditional Vietnam. Dorfhaus. Here we were allowed to fold spring rolls ourselves, fry them and eat them with delicious fish chilli sauce. The lunch then served was unforgettable delicious. There was curry chicken with rice, water spinach, banana blossom salad in delicious dressing, fried bananas, fruit etc. Afterwards we were handed tea or invited to homemade coffee. All on a pretty covered terrace by a small vegetable garden. This small event was one of our Unpacked Vietnam holidays - highly recommended, also priced, for those who want to experience a bit of original Vietnam away from the tourist crowds with wonderfully friendly hosts.

Fun, authentic, informative and engaging - Luat and Vinh were brilliant hosts. Great tour with variety, fun and energy. Saw so many things we would never have seen if not for this tour. The cycling was easy (and I was worried), boat ride, rice production, fishing and river areas, farming and produce, followed by a beautiful meal made from local ingredients. This is a must do
