Highlights
  • Nausori Highlands - Begin your hiking adventure with pickup at your hotel in Nadi and a scenic ride. As you drive, listen to your guides talk about the ‘off-the-beaten-path’ areas of Fiji, through which you’ll begin to understand more about daily life in this island nation. Sights include sugar cane farms, beaches, and the village settlements. Some exciting off-road driving is in store as well. The drive takes about an hour total, and your guides will stop at a local supermarket in case you want to buy snacks and water.

Hit the trail head and head off through the forest, looking out for plants used in traditional island medicine and other species that are highly poisonous. Your turnaround point is a waterfall, where you’re welcome to take a dip and cool off.

Arrive at a village for lunch in the home of a local family. Over traditional Fijian food, learn about their daily life and the challenges they face living so far from community resources like public transportation and grocery stores.

At the conclusion of your activity, you’ll be dropped off back at your accommodation in Nadi.

Wonderful Fiji Highlands Hike. - Fantastic trip. Great truck ride up into the mountains circa 90 mins on gravel roads - beautiful views. Knowledgeable guides. Hike not too long and not too strenuous. Views from the summit are spectacular. Waterfall on way back down to village - can swim if you want. Visited local farm and had lunch and lemon tea is farmers hut - tasty. Great day out.

Get out to experience true Fiji - This was a truly wonderful experience. The guides were excellent on local information and the lifestyle of the Fijian farmers, their villages and culture. The hike is not too strenuous or too long.

Best tour ever - This is a MUST in Fiji! The resorts are nice but it doesn't give you an authentic experience of what Fiji is like. There is so much beautiful nature inland, and you unlock it all with the hiking route - greenery, waterfalls, stunning views, you name it - it is there. And you have the opportunity to spend time in a village, meet the locals and see what life is actually like in Fiji (unlike in a resort). And finally, Ray is the best tour guide ever, very knowledgeable, genuine and a great sense of humour. I will be back for sure, thank you Ray!

Don’t Miss This Adventurous Gem! - What a gem of an experience! Definitely consider this excursion when on Viti Levu. Stunning views and warm hospitality from Peter and Vikki. We felt so fortunate to meet them and learn about life in the Fijian highlands. We were picked up at Intercontinental, which is probably the furthest hotel from Peter’s village, but the drive let’s you see so much of the island. Off road part of the drive might be hard for some, but just breathe in the adventure of it all. Hike itself is a little over 5 miles - nothing too steep or difficult. Overall, a wonderful way to experience Fiji! Thank you to Peter and Vikki for making it possible and for sharing your love of your community!

Great day out and exposure to the beauty of Fiji mainland - Loved the hike, the guides, the swim in the waterfall too. Then jumping in the ute of the four wheel drive was a fun little bonus. Will do again. Thank you.

An amazing and authentic experience! - This was a true highlight of our time in Fiji. The hike itself was excellent, probably a medium in terms of difficulty, not hard but a workout for sure. But beyond the hike the best part was meeting Peter, being welcomed into his home and learning about his life as a farmer in a village in Fiji. This trip was as much an authentic cultural experience it was a hiking trip. In terms of itenary, the trip starts at your hotel and you get spectacular views on the drive up. There's a bit of off roading which was quite fun. Next up you do a Kava ceremony before going on an amazing hike. The hike takes you up to a spectacular view and then through the village. After the hike there's a waterfall you visit which comes from the same water supply that feeds into the village, its refreshing true Fiji water. After that you head back to Peter's house for lunch and then head back to your hotel. The hike itself was really great as was the waterfall. The lunch after the hike was alright as well, it's vegetarian food that a farmer would typically eat during the week. I'm glad we got to experience an authentic Fiji lunch and the lemongrass tea we had in Peter's home after the hike was probably the best herbal tea I've ever had. Overall a great experience, fascinating to learn about village life in Fiji and truly special to be welcomed into Peter's home and Village. Both Peter and Ray (the driver/tour operator) made this a great experience and it's awesome to be able to support a local tour company and the village we visited!

Authentic scenic hike in nasouri highlands - This was a great authentic experience. Something I haven’t seen any other tour offer. The hike was easy to moderate, about 1.5 - 2 hours. We ran into villagers chopping trees to build homes and some hunting for wild boars. Peter was a nice guide who welcomed us into his home. Ray the tour operator is amazing! Communicative, friendly, he gave us great recommendations for food and other tours even if they were not his own. He also helped us with transportation when the resort was overcharging. I highly recommend this tour. The only thing is if rain is in the forecast, I suggest rescheduling to a day with better weather. We got lucky and the clouds parted for a great view!

Amazing Tour! A must! - All I can say is WOW! Such a fantastic experience from resort pick up to drop off! Ray was easy to talk too, very knowledgeable and passionate about the experience he was offering. I enjoyed every second of the drive, trail walk, village tour and authentic lunch provided. Absolutely recommend for anyone wanting to do something different while in Fiji.

Good tour bad guide - Views were amazing but guide probably needs to learn how to respect his job and others. Guide wanted to promote his business and used my time during my tour to speak to strangers that we met. Kept telling them to call him. Repeated 4-5 times to “donate” to the village but he’s rich - owns the land, private waterfall and cattle. Food prepared were extremely unhygienic and only vegetables. Guide was 4-5m ahead with no explanations of any culture nor heritage. Emailed the owner of the agency and be was so nice, promised to look into it. Thus, this is not to put down the tour, the toute itself was wonderful just the guide. He should do his job properly because he’s paid and not only do it because he expects to be tipped.

Amazing tour but guide needs to be changed - (+) Overall the tour is good because you get to see the village and learn about their way of life and it’s not the usual track in Fiji. Beautiful scenery and the views were amazing. (-) The guide Peter had many positive reviews yes. That’s exactly the reason why I booked the tour. However, when I was there, I was really abhorred at the hygiene standards and the cup that they used to serve the kava is being used repeatedly which was why I turned down the drink but the guide was unhappy. Yes I respect the culture but at the same time, I would also like to be respected when I do not want to drink it. He wasn’t interested in showing me the village, no stories exchange no talks no nothing. For the entire trail, he walked 4-5m ahead and it was raining too. I felt that it would have been done better by letting us know in advance what to expect of the route. Luckily I had an umbrella with me. Through out the entire session, he kept asking me to donate to the village. He has land, owns cattle and has a private waterfall. I really think he is well off enough which was attested by the driver. Donations are non obligatory, why am I coerced into donating? I didn’t have any money with me as I haven’t got a chance to exchange it and he told the driver to drive me to town, exchange and give it to him. While hiking, we met a Bhutanese family and he went to exchange contact and we stood there while he chatted for 15 mins. If you can’t even do your job when I’ve paid, what makes you think you can do it for others? I felt like it was a bit of discrimination for Asian clients (tipping is not in our culture) so if he served Caucasian clients he might get a fat tip. Overall Ray the owner was amazing, I spoke to him before I posted the review and he gave his word that if I were to revisit, he will take me up the trail personally. I appreciate that because he values the comments! My review is not to put the tour down because it was an amazing tour! It is to let others know that it’s not a comfortable tour and the lunch is prepared by the locals which is mostly vegetarian so if you are not accustomed to it, eat beforehand and after. Also we are not obligated to donate, decline firmly.
