- Inverness - Our local tour guide will give you a brief walking tour around the city cente of their home town of Inverness, including historical sites, architecture, and lessor knows gems and stories that only the locals know. See the oldest pub, visit a site where Jacobite soldiers were executed after the Battle of Culloden, and get a great view of the castle from an old bridge. We will then give you some free time to grab a coffee or snack place of your choice. Our guide will, of course, give some great recommendations.
- Clava Cairns - For your second stop the guide will take you to the ancient burial site of Clava Cairns. Marvel at these bronze age cairns and touch the standing stones as the guide explains how and why these structures came to be built 4000 years ago. Learn how the Victorians romanticized and changed the landscapes of Clava, and imagine how it used to be all the way back in 2000 BC.
- Culloden Battlefield - Our guide will take you to Culloden Battlefield where they will tell you about the history of the Jacobite Rebellion and the last battle to be fought on British Soil. They will take you to a great viewpoint and show you where the troops stood facing one another before the Jacobites were slaughtered. You will also be shown the makeshift hospital cottage, the grave markers and other points of interest before being given some free time to absorb the atmosphere of this haunting historical site.

Wonderful tour with Amazing Guides - My family had a blast with the Tartan Trailblazers! It was so nice to have a guided tour through some of Scotland’s Historic Locations. The tartan Trailblazers created a tour of sites that you should not miss on your travels, we loved listening to Fin and Michelle share the history about the sites we visited, and we learned so much about Scotland from them both! (We also loved that this was a half day tour as we then had time in the day to venture around Inverness!)
Great time, highly recommended, super kind, and funny guides! We loved every minute!

Amazing day with 2 wonderful woman! - We had a wonderful tour.
Michelle and Finella have shown us their country with Scottish music. Lots of interesting information and fantastic places in a short time.

Excellent, well-rounded tour! Great guides! - This half day tour with the Tartan Trailblazers was an awesome experience! Finella and Michelle were a great team, providing a tour with amazing sites, excellent history and entertaining folklore. Finella, a native of Inverness, was a knowledgeable and fun tour guide. While Michelle navigated those Scottish back roads like a champ! We enjoyed learning about Scottish culture and listening to Scottish music. The visit to Clava Cairns was mystical! These stone formations are so mysterious and I'm lucky to have touched something that's over 4000 years old! The battlefield of Culloden will delight all you Outlander fans... Make sure to visit the Clan Fraser monument stone! The visit to Loch Ness was a once in a lifetime experience for me... I took a quick dip in that 48 degree water and can now say "I swam with Nessie!" Inverness is a wonderful city filled with delicious food, beer, whisky and gifts. I can't recommend this tour and tour company enough!

Highlight of our Trip to Inverness! - This Inverness tour was absolutely magical. We got to experience some amazing historical sites all a stones throw from Inverness. Our guide Fin, told us all about the early settlers to Scotland right up to tjhe Jacobite rebellion. We also learned some fun local stories and got to see Highland Cows! Michelle was a great driver and also added some info at times. Great team!

Great day out! - I booked this tour as part of my mums 60th birthday celebrations and it didn't disappoint!! This was our first tour so we didn't know what to expect, but the Tour guide was so welcoming, knowledgeable and very fun. Even though we are local to the area, we have never taken the time to appreciate the beautiful surroundings that this tour showcases. Thank you for such a memorable trip!

Amazing Tour, Great Value and Fantastic Day! - We had an amazing tour with Tartan trailblazers. We got together with another small group from our cruise and booked a private tour for the 8 of us. It worked out great value. The tour took us to Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns, Inverness, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. Clava Cairns was my favourite place. We also got a "wee dram" of Scotch with a gaelic toast. The guide Fin was interesting and clearly passionate about her homeland. We got a good mix of history, legends and local stories. We even learned a Scottish song! So much fun. The driver, Chelle, got us back to Invergordon in plenty of time for our cruise. Highly recommend these girls!

An incredible day out I would gladly do again!! - This tour from start to finish was exceptional. A driver and a guide meant the guide could give us her full attention during the trip. From the Clava Cairns to Urquhart Castle we were told the history and the fascinating stories of the area. Fin and Michelle worked together to give us a very welcoming and memorable day. I highly recommend this tour.

Great Private Tour with Family around the best spots in the Highlands! - After enjoying a trip to the West Coast with Tartan Trailblazers my family decided to book a private tour around the Inverness area. It worked out very good value for money as there was a large group of us and there was plenty of space for us all. We had a fantastic day learning about the battle of Culloden, Clava Cairns (Wow!), Inverness where Finn showed us around the city centre on a short walking tour and even pointed out the oldest bar in Inverness that her Grandpa used to own! Followed by a trip to Urquhart Castle, where the visit was covered by the tour. That was my favourite part of the tour. We also got to enjoy some interesting Scottish snacks and drinks! We were so happy with this tour and would definitely book onto a private tour again in the future! It is great to be shown around by locals and treated as friends. Thank you
